But if you're looking for that sort of alt.country thing, I'd suggest the Old 97's, and I would suggest the album Fight Songs, or maybe Satellite Ride. If you don't already listen to Bob Dylan you should, and I'd suggest the album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. I also just got this new disc by this woman called Nina Nastasia who I had never heard of but someone suggested it, and it's called The Blackened Air. It's really mellow and beautiful. Anyway, that's about all I can think of off the top of my head but it's kind of my hobby to find new music to listen to and I think it's important because to assume that the best of what's around is what's widely known is a sad error so if you ever want to chat about music, e-mail me or IM me on Yahoo. It is a strange marriage of lots of different kinds of music that I really like--a feast for the ears. I'm not a huge fan of Gold or Demolition, but Heartbreaker is a stellar effort (even if he is an asshole). The cut "Damn, Sam, I Love a Woman That Rains" alone is worth the price of the CD... And who does it remind me of every time I hear it? Dylan. Who knew?? If you're talking alt.country, just go through the Bloodshot Records roster. Don't forget Robbie Fulks for damn good songwriting, playing and energy. Not a great guitar teacher, but he doesn't have to worry about that anymore... ;) All in good fun, Dave - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org]On Behalf Of jenocide@cox.net Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 6:45 PM To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: Re: MM: Ryan Adams > I'd have to agree that if you want to hear Ryan Adams, you should buy a Whiskeytown disc, as his solo discs aren't worth the money.
