Yeah, I JUST found that info as your post came in. You can see all the winners (updated VERY often) at http://grammy.aol.com/awards/winners2003.html I HATE they way that 80% of the time someone performs on the Grammies if they are up for the next award they win it. It makes the show boring. So far tonight it's 3 for 3. Faith Hill does not count as she was not up for the next award and John Mayer (who DID win) does not count because all the nominees performed just before that award, but No Doubt, The Dixie Chicks and Nora Jones all performed, were up for the very next award and won. This happens every single year anymore and I HATE it. Takes all the suspense out of this show. Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more > > http://taxes.yahoo.com/ > Wow Ya'll, it's fine to be unhappy that our fave did not win her well deserved grammy, but come on, that competition was very good. Nickel Creek is a great band with huge backing, more exposure, video's, cover of many mags, all part of what it takes to win... key word here is POP. Yes I agree that Patty's album "should win on it's musical merit", I think her Label should work harder for her...Think of what wonderful material there is in Patty's music that could make great video imagery. Music is a business, right down to the Grammy in Nickel Creek's hands. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Feb 2003 19:34:46 -0800 (PST) From: heather cornwell Subject: MM: Re: mad-mission-digest V7 #51 Hi! Does anyone know if the Dixie Chicks are doing any special internet pre-sale for tix to Seattle show? Is there a password I should know about? I figure supporting the Chix also supports Patty, ya know? Thanks for your help. Heather Yahoo! I confess that I LOVE Nickel Creek, but this is heartbreaking!! (They aren't CONTEMPORARY folk, they're Bluegrass/Newgrass!) Patty's 1kK is a timeless masterpiece of contemporary folk, and I hope future generations will look back at this mistake and criticize NARAS for overlooking such an important, timeless jewel. A nomination is an award in itself, but still... it always seems to happen to the best. I am also glad that Norah Jones did so well, that's a great album. I'd say that overall, the show was probably the best I've seen. Not much talk, lots of music, and a few surprises. Simon and Garfunkel were awesome, and strike me down with lightning for saying this, but the more I hear N SYNC and Justin Timberlake the more I'm convinced of there talent. They were awesome with the Bee Gees stuff. Too bad for Patty tho, she deserved the win. I had also hoped the Chicks would mention her up there but they didn't. Just some thoughts... ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V7 #53 ********************************
