I have introduced Patty to a friend, who is now a new fan and is going with me. I'm wondering if anyone else is going and is meeting before the show for dinner/drinks someplace. I am also curious, since Patty is the headliner for Fridays show, I'm assuming she will be on last? I am very worried I will not get the Patty fix I am hoping for this evening....though I couldn't miss out on even a little Patty! I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this festival and knows any of the other artists. Patty played in Kalamazoo Thursday night and I could find no way to attend....I am sure that would have been a better Patty show than tonight will be since she will have to share the show with many other artists. I am still extremely excited about tonight. I even purchased some vintage attire to be more Pattyesque. I just can't wait!!!! I'll be at the A2 Folk Festival tonight. Rumor has it that the headliner does go last. Someone at the Ark told me the theater is supposed to close at 11:30, but they are going to try to push it. I know a few other names on the list of Friday night's players. Jeffrey Gaines had some radio play with his Peter Gabriel cover of In Your Eyes. I'm looking forward to hearing some of his original music. Guess his voice is really great. And I'm pretty sure I saw Erin Mckeown playing guitar with Ani Difranco in Render, a documentary about Ani. Should be a fun night. Friday is supposed to be more for the younger, hipper folk music lovers ;). Hey Jen! Will you be there tonight? I owe you a drink. Haven't forgotten your generosity. Hi Everyone, As some of you already know I was asked to take over as webmaster for Pattygriffin.com. As a result, Patty's manager has sent me a big ole box of Silver Bell samplers and a few Rain singles so I could hold a contest to get rid of them. I've got about 100 cd's and with shipping at about $1.50 a piece I would go broke sending them all out (especially since I haven't started work yet...) So here's the idea (thanks to Holly Booms!) Send Patty 1000 Kisses. This can either be a V-day card (nothing mushy or gross though boys... hehe) or a congrats on the grammy, good luck on the grammy, etc. card. But I want it to be hand made.. a personal touch ya know. Everyone that submits a hand-made token will receive a sampler. I will collect all of the cards and send them directly to Patty's manager who will send them on to Patty. Since V-day is in about 3.5 weeks away I'm making the contest deadline February 7th so they'll get to Patty on time. Here are the rules: 1. Card must be hand made! 2. Do NOT seal them in envelopes for patty to open - i'm opening all envelopes 3. Nothing obscene - I am reading all of them, anything inappropriate will not be sent out. 4. PLEASE include a SASE that will fit the sampler so I can mail the sampler to you. All submissions will get a sampler (if I run out, you'll get a rain single, or you might get both, depends on # of submissions) I found that 4 regular stamps on a bubble mailer will do the trick (remember, they are in jewel cases) 5. I don't want to send my address to the list, if you are interested in participating, email me for my address. I think that's about it. Try not to send anything gigantic since i need to fit them all in one box. if anyone has any other suggestions or concerns or anything let me know. :-) - Jen ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ AIM: traDMB http://www-personal.engin.umich.edu/~jcaputo http://www.pattygriffin.net ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jan 2003 13:03:58 -0500 From: "Willms, Gregory J." Well, my two pennies... All together I see a song about two people who are together physically but one of them is having a hard time mustering the courage to open up and share himself emotionally. The person is the song is not really jazzed about this type of relationship, she finds herself or in a similar situation in the past, has found herself "laying flat". She doesn't know the person she has invested herself in. The chorus of the song is a metaphor for the transformation that takes place in a relationship when people are brave enough to let their partner see inside...the "pearls of water on my hips" is an image that is intended to show the guy what is waiting for him, a dream-like, classical image of sexuality and love, very alluring and desirable. "I know it's not easy, but have some faith in what we have here, just have the guts to talk to me truthfully, mister, and everything you ever wanted is yours", that kinda thing. Okay well that's all the sensitivity I can muster today...on to football, go team, Raiders by 8 :) Jon __ "Willms, Gregory J." wrote: Again, I could be totally off-base, but that line, when looked at in context with the rest of the song, doesn't seem to imply anything sensual to me.
