They're playing a track from the disc every hour on the half-hour (right now, "Chief" is playing). Also, there are two pieces of interest in today's Boston Globe: One on the new "Respond" compilation (http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/017/living/A_star_studded_response+.shtml ) and Maybe Baby, the Jennifer Kimball/Ry Cavanaugh project (http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/017/living/Maybe_Bay_duo_without_a_pigeon hole+.shtml ). If you haven't yet ordered that fabulous "Respond" double-CD, do it through Signature Sounds and you'll get a free CD sampler that includes tracks from Dave and Tracy, Richard Shindell, Lori McKenna, Kris Delmhorst, Mark Erelli, Rani Arbo, Peter Mulvey, and more. That's three discs full of fabulous music, for $15; and in addition to contributing to an extremely worthwhile cause, you also support a wonderful record company. Win/win/win... So, I've been thinking about other, less violent competitions. What if we had a karaoke night singing to Patty's song? Or an American Idol type sing-off with Patty and Doug Lancio as the judges? The winner could sing with Patty on her next album. (I am sure the ATO management or whoever reads this list for them would just love that. Almost as much as my idea of sending Patty money for Silver Bell, I should think.) Darcie can't compete, however, since she's a pro and would blow all of us out of the bar. I suspect that we might have to exclude Lori and a few other real musicians as well. Patty's songs, given her great voice and range, are not always easy to sing (I think) and would make for hilarious (miserable?) moments for the rest of us amateurs. What would Don Henn or Evil Gary sing? Dana, what you would weigh in with? Let's see, I would sing "Mad Mission" or "Mary," as they are tunes that are easier to carry. God help your ears, though. I was reading this and agreeing until my name popped up?? You never know what can happen. These people should know how to sing somewhat don't you think???? I think there is a lyric that says "way down in new orleans". But I don't know anymore of it. Anyone know the title of the song and/or where it's from? It's amazing how many different genre of music she can do! Thanks. Steve "Don't just exist. Fun idea! But we need a mean judge, too. We need someone to tell us what disgustiong peons we are in order for it to be really fun! I would have to pick "Forgiveness" because that song just kills me. Maybe Patty could give a tutorial to those of us who need it and then we could do and American Idol style compilation album which, clearly, ATO would love to release for us! - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry Skomer" To: Sent: Friday, January 17, 2003 1:19 PM Subject: MM: RE: mad-mission-digest V7 #17 > Well, okay, I concede that clubbing each other on a desert island to win a > dinner date with Patty is a bit extreme, although I did like the idea of a > benefit show at the hospital. > > So, I've been thinking about other, less violent competitions.
