That show sold out, by the way. I'm not close to Annapolis, but I did mention to her that if she thought there was a market for that show in Frederick, MD (probably about an hour from Annap.) I could think of a few bars and record stores that might put a poster up, but haven't heard back if she thought that would help. I am a travel agent and interested to see how many would participate if we could put it together and if the powers that be i.e. ATO people, Patty, etc. would be supportive of this idea. I would love to hear from someone at ATO or Patty's mgmt or Patty on this idea to see if its worth the effort. There is a similar annual cruise every fall with Lowen and Navarro and their fans that is very popular put together by another travel agent fan of theirs and they are in, I think their 5th year and adding more and more people every year. It's just an idea I wanted to throw out to the group to get an idea and would like to hear comments about: 1. Best time of year (keep in mind rates are MUCH lower in the fall) 2. How many cabins we would need (generally 2 people per cabin). I need this to negotiate a group rate 3. Cruise duration 3, 4, or 7 nights. 4. Closest cruise port for the most people (if not flying) 5. Nearest airport if flying to the ship Please email me directly with ideas and I will report the results at a later time but please also post ideas to the board as well as I will monitor them and get some insight. She does seem so shy. I wouldn't want her to feel like she could not leave her room without bumping into stalkers, well meaning and all but still uncomfortable for her. Well, if you can pull it off, I might be able to do it, wherever... I have heard of cruises with a whole lineup of folk type singers on it for the music acts - I wonder if that is a possibility- then Patty would not feel like the focus. Maybe she would feel less conspicuous and safe among some peers then. I think it is a long shot, but maybe. It would be awesome! I'd add other artists to the bill too.... like her friends. Make it fun! Yes, she DID do one before... it was Delbert McClinton's Blues Cruise. My guy Monte Montgomery was on the bill with her too (now he has his own cruise). From the feedback I got about the Delbert cruise the year Patty did it, cabin fever, boat rocking and sea sickness were more of an issue than overzealous fans! It's amazing that a week long of music on a cruise really doesnt hold attention spans quite as much as you think... even the stalkiest of stalkers eventually turns their attention elsewhere. Often the audiences grew extremely quaint as most people eventually stayed in their cabins or did other things. Personally, I love planning my vacations around music. (Going to Telluride again this year!! YAY!!!!~~ I'd love to see Patty get on the bill as a regular invitee---maybe I/we should call and bug them!!!) Yes I would LOVE a Patty and friends music cruise. Nothing confined or lame though... make it a good cruiseline and a good destination. Mimi ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V7 #15 ********************************
