As not to put Mike and his organization in a position that he is uncomfortable with and one where he might have to defend in the future, I am ending the auction tonight at 11:59 PM Philadelphia time. Thanks to everyone for your support and participation.. Peace Murph ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 20:00:57 -0800 From: Jerry Skomer Subject: MM: A crisis in Lyrics-ville Okay, kids, I asked about this once before, but didn't get much of a response. I am convinced that many of the lyrics listed on the various websites for some of the Silver Bell songs are simply not correct. Egad. I was looking for the words to Boston (just a great song with great writing), and couldn't believe what I was reading. For example, is the first line, "Went back to Boston, the city of lost love," or is it "Went back to Boston, the city you got lost in"? And what about: "I took the red line a wrong way Across the River Charles" Seems to me it should be "I took the red line all the way across the river Charles." But the real nonsense occurs when the lyrics are listed as: I went walking in Boston A little bridge I used to walk on I was slipping on a hog And I flung into that sea of strong Processing need not apply For you to license to fly Hey young lady don't be so suprised You know you're not alone This almost certainly can't be correct. "I was slipping on a hog?" "And I flung into that sea of strong processing need not apply?" Really, that doesn't make ANY sense, does it? Seems to me that Patty says something about flinging a heart into a sea of stone, which would fit what the song is about, since she's visiting a friends tombstone in a cemetary. Then how about: "You came out of there awake Looking for the sky" Seems to me it should be: "You came all that way, looking for the sky." Help.
