It is a totally brilliant song. Do you think if I were to get my friend who works at the Barbican at York to leave the chords and lyrics in her dressing room that she'd learn it again?! I wouldn't be surprised at all. As a songwriter, I'm not nearly as prolific as she is and if I'm not playing one of my songs regularly, trust me, I lose it. With as many songs as she's got to keep together in her head and the repetoire she's focused on now, I'm not at all surprised that she can't do some songs at the drop of a hat. Subject: MM: Patty crosses the ocean At last!!! Patty Griffin is coming to England. On December 1st, she opens for Billy Bragg at the Shepherds Bush Empire, with tickets at whopping #17.50. I booked mine before the next date was announced, December 2nd at Bush Hall, a venue I'm not familiar with, but which sounds much more interesting. It's a gig just for her, the Bush Hall only seats 250 people, and tickets are only a tenner. Meanwhile, in this week's Time Out, "1000 Kisses" is given a rave review, apparently released over here by Sanctuary. The critic, Ross Fortune, makes some mistakes, calling it her third album and claiming there are two unreleased ones, but it's a stunning review, and hopefully a sign of things to come -- recognition over here. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 19:59:53 -0400 From: "Gary Jacques" Subject: MM: Re: Patty crosses the ocean Patty & Billy Bragg. I was wondering if anyone has seen her at one of these shows from her previous years of doing it. If anyone has could you tell me how long her set was. I purchased the ticket only to see her, I don't care so much for Emmylou,Mary Chapin, or Bruce Cockburn so I'm in fear that Patty's set will be really short. I appreciate it. _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #373 *********************************
