You & Elizabeth have easily filled my flaming red 11 EEE's , easing my withdrawal symptoms. Hope to see more before she heads out for the UK , & expect to hear from UK listers , who have finally gotten their wish. I have pangs of regret looking at the great set list , & hearing that it was a great show , but family proirities are the only thing that trump Patty proirities.I heard the song with the "useless desires" line in it , for the first time when she opened for Steve Earle at the Ryman in Nashville. I think I heard it once since then , but never got the name. I thought then , that it might have been "My Dear Old Friend" , but now I'm pretty sure it's not. My comments from the show are pasted below ; ******************************************* The third song was a new composition , not on the new CD. I was trying to focus on the words , so I was distracted from the vocal quality & composition. It seems to be a song about saying goodbye to a friend , but at one point she seemed to be describing a building rather than a person. I wonder if she wrote it about the demise of Ryman as the primary venue for the Grand Old Opry. I wrote down a line from it ; "I'm getting tired of useless desires". Very interesting. I hope Patty expands on that someday. ***************************************************************** I went looking for the heart that I flung into that sea of stone Patty Griffin "Boston" Don ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #368 *********************************
