Subject: MM: RE: Listen to Mike on this one Yeah, and to help everyone get off the politics thing, here's a morsel that's sure to cause some ruckus... Watched a horrible movie the other night... Enough, starring Jennifer Lopez. It was basically a terrible version of Sleeping With The Enemy. Anyhow, in addition to the tired story line and questionable acting, the main theme song for the movie was a horrible, horrible song by Jewel. This film was a real bomb. I can't think of a better formula for failure than "J. Lo" in the lead, a worn out story, awful directing, and a recurring musical theme by Jewel. I could complain about this movie for days, but I won't, so let me just say one more thing... According to this film, all you need is about two weeks to transform yourself from a punching bag to a precision-tuned killing machine. Amazing. - -----Original Message----- From: TimSharp63@aol.com [mailto:TimSharp63@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 8:54 AM To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: MM: Listen to Mike on this one You tell 'em Mike. By the way, below is the kind of crap that has no place on this list, not opinions about Patty-related musicians. This is a discussion list, and the discussion is bound to stray away from Patty from time to time. Patty's music is not 100% light and uplifting. In fact, I'd put its light and uplifting percentage at about 5. If you're looking for a constantly light and uplifting escape from reality, turn on Nikelodeon. - -----Original Message----- From: Sherrill, Kaylynn [mailto:kaylynn.sherrill@weyerhaeuser.com] Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 11:05 AM To: 'TimSharp63@aol.com'; 'mad-mission@smoe.org'; 'Willms, Gregory J.' I agree with mike and everyone else that says that this isnt the place to discuss politics. I did voice an opinion about the politics and was flooded with email.. some agree that some action needs to be taken but others were calling me an idiot and berating me for my opinion. I would never insult someones ideals and beliefs just as i wouldnt insult someone that liked jewel. while topics are bound to stray off of patty (remember the britney spears clothing controversy?) i think that it is important to remember that everyone is ENTITLED to their opinion and to be heard. and not to be made to feel like less then someone else just because that person might be able to state it better or do not agree with you. to resort to calling someone an idiot because you do not agree with what they says volumes about you. now... i have a question about pattys wfuv performance last friday.. did anyone record it? peter... thanks for the parcel!!! ~kim ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 14:21:53 -0700 (PDT) From: Jon Crouse Subject: MM: Jackson Browne on KGSR Austin - comments about Patty I'm listening to Jackson Browne live on KGSR...in the course of the interview he mentioned Patty and started talking about Living With Ghosts. I completely missed the context of the conversation, but he said that even though he thought the album was very powerful, afterwards he was left wanting to hear her with a band. He went on to speak of "Flaming Red" as one of the greatest rock and roll records of all time. I don't know how long his list is but...high praise from a pretty great singer/songwriter in his own right. Leahy Humanitarian Award for her tireless efforts to focus attention on the plight of landmine survivors worldwide. VVAF supporters, including Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), will pay tribute to Harris Tuesday, November 12, at a benefit event at the Birchmere Music Hall. Musical guests will include Mary Chapin Carpenter, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith, Patty Griffin, Buddy & Julie Miller, Jamie O'Hara and John Prine. All proceeds from the 2002 Patrick J. Leahy Humanitarian Award event will support VVAF's post-war assistance programs.
