It's as easy as that. Yes, there is something as being too good. Too good for radio, too good for the general public CD buyers. And long live Flaming Red. Amen. ~darcie~Get more from the Web. To everyone, opinions are like assholes and everyone's got one!! It's not a big deal, fight it if you like, and they other can fight it back. Computer's truely do empower so many people. And here's my asshole opinion, lol: FR does deserve her name. It is one of the most eclectic albums of the 90's. I also listen to all of them, enjoying each one. I assume anyone thats here enjoys everything Patty releases. Thats why we're here right? - ----- Original Message ----- From: Willms, Gregory J. Let me be me and I'll let you be you. I'm sick of this PC bullshit where everyone has to agree and be friends all the time. That's not the way things work and it's downright unnatural. What do you care if I make a harsh comment? I didn't say it about you, did I? People call me arrogant but I'm just voicing my opinion. If I were to post and say that I could record a better album... well, that would be arrogant. How's that for harsh? >That's not the point, tho. Subject: MM: RE: Flaming Red Controvery Does anyone here understand that I was simply stating my opinion? This has been an issue on this list before. Because someone's opinion is one thing, does mean it's right. By definition, opinions can be neither right nor wrong. So I don't understand why everyone gets all into a tizzy when someone states an opinion that's different from their own. I don't question Patty's range or her ability to rock. I'll say it again, I just don't think the songs on FR are that good. For me, they don't have the catchiness or depth that most of her other music does. Now why that opinion would offend anyone is beyond me. I'm not offended that you like the album, so why should you be offended that I don't? Maybe saying that the album isn't worthy of her name was the wrong way to put it. I said it only with the idea in mind that she had done much better work before FR, she's done better work since FR, and I think she could've done much better with FR itself. Can't we all just disagree? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 22:07:46 EDT From: SarMcl@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: RE: Flaming Red Controvery I personally think Flaming Red is her best album. I love the fact that it rocks. Patty has a hell of a voice and even though I love 1000 Kisses, I think it limits her vocally. Give me Flaming Red and Wiggly Fingers any day.......... I didn't mean harsh as in mean. You can say you despise the cd, I don't care. There are many songs of hers I don't like either. What I meant was that it's a bit drastic to say that it doesn't deserve her name on it. I don't think there's even one song of Patty's that everyone here would agree that it sucks. We're always split b/w those who love it and those who hate it. The fact that there are so many of her fans that love any one of her songs, and ready to defend the song, means that each and every one deserves recognition, especially if Patty thinks it's good enough to be on one of her very few albums. As long as so many fans like a song, you can't just dismiss it as a waste of space on a cd, etc. I'm just getting really defensive after seeing her performance. I'm not saying we can't disagree on her songs. - -Lisa - ----- Original Message ----- > Harsh or not, it's an opinion, and if you can't handle it, then you can go > fly a kite. It is definitely my favorite. But I love the other ones, too. Actually, I was a bit disappointed with 1000 Kisses at first listen. After hearing Patty do these songs live though, it brought a new dimension to the music for me. I found myself appreciating it more, and now I can't get enough of it. I'll take anything Patty does-be it the softer side or the rockin' side! - -Pamela ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #279 *********************************
