Must have been a tough time since the Belly-Up. Heard a lot of good music on the street after the show , while I was having a hot dog & a coke , but since the area seemed to be a gay mecca , I took me & my flaming red shoes back to the motel. Wasn't prepared to be hit on. Homophobic perhaps ? Am coming over to America for a couple of weeks to visit my friends here and this is probably the only chance I'll get to see her unless I decide to defect (can you actually do that anymore?!) Not entirely sure how would get to Rochester from NYC (or Toronto!), but for Patty I'd figure it out! Thanks and have a good evening, Sarah _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2002 20:57:45 -0400 From: "Don Henn" Subject: MM: San Francisco MMers , Another highlight night. Great concert. Old friend Dana , ( our 3rd Patty concert together ) & new friends Jerry , Paul , & Suzanne. Had dinner with Dana , & Suzanne drove us into the city & back. Hate driving into big cities. Set list : Chief Rain Long Ride Home Making Pies Be Careful Flaming Red / Patty & Doug Forgiveness / solo Top of the World Truth # 2 Goodbye Ruby's Arms Mad Mission Mil Besos Encore Let Him Fly / Patty & Doug Tomorrow Night Nobody's Crying Mary It was a pleasure to read Jerry's review. Any compliments on my reviews that may have gone to my head were quickly dashed as Jerry writes with the same grace & flow with which Patty sings. Was thinking it was the show of the tour when Patty launched into "Ruby's Arms" after "Goodbye" again , but then Patty did her "Bill the Cat" thing. That is , she had to stop to clear her throat. After a few sips of water , they picked up where they left off , & it was still a great song. With the great encore , including "Nobody's Crying" , it was still as good as any show on the tour. It's a testament to Patty's talent that when she stopped , I felt like a spell had been broken. Don't know if that song is particularly hard on her voice ( hope not ) , but she didn't do it again during the next 3 shows I saw. With the light in our eyes It's hard to see Holding on and on 'til we believe Heather Nova "Walk This World" Aaaaack !! ~Bill the Cat~ Don ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2002 22:59:18 -0400 From: "Don Henn" Subject: MM: Portland MMers , Don't remember much of Portland before the show. Must have slept late after the long drive. Remember the spectacular scenery on the way , though Set List : Chief Rain Long Ride Home Making Pies Be Careful Flaming Red / Patty & Doug Poor Man's House / solo Top of the World Truth # 2 Goodbye Stolen Car Mad Mission Mil Besos Encore Let Him Fly / Patty & Doug Sweet Lorraine Mary 2nd Encore 10 Million Miles Early on , Patty said that the Aladdin's claim to fame was having the longest run of "Deep Throat" in the country. She also said that the last place they played used to be a bordello , confirming Jerry's description of the Great American Music Hall in SF. "Goodbye" & TOTW were the highlights for me. Was good to hear "Stolen Car" again. Was also good to hear opener Michael Fracasso's set again.
