I'm so nervous I can hardly stand it. I'm a copy editor for Newsday on Long Island and I get to write for the paper on occasion. I pitched an obsessive-fan/first-person/essay type piece to Newsday's pop music editor since I took the day off to see Patty's in-store NYC appearance and of course plan on going to both Joe's Pub shows. The editor liked the idea but said, "Why don't you interview her instead?" I was like, "Um, yeah, I think I could do that." Anyway, the interview's for a feature Newsday has called "Fast Chat." I have a half-hour with her and then our photographer gets a half-hour. (I'm hoping she'll let me stay to watch her get photographed so I can just stand and bask in her aura.) Anyway, the only bad thing about the interview is that I can't be a "fan." It wouldn't be right in an interview/journalistic setting to ask for an autograph, get a picture, etc., etc. Oh well, that's a small price to pay to get to talk to her for a half-hour. I'll get to be a fan on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll let you guys know when the interview runs (www.newsday.com). And if Newsday will let me (they're pretty tough on protecting copyright), I'll post the full interview on the list. Hope I don't make an ass of myself with Patty. I know I'll be a nervous wreck. Wish me luck. I want to, but I'm going to the Joe's Pub performance, and I'm not sure if making it to both would be possible. How long with the Borders thing last if it starts at 5:00. ALSO, did anyone who order the CD from ATO get it yet. I didn't, and I'm getting nervous. I wanted to bring it with me tomorrow. Any chance it will come tomorrow?? I got the CD today that I pre-ordered from ATO. I didn't pay the extra for the better shipping, either. I'm in NW PA, and mine shipped from VA. The CD is great! A local used cd store likes to keep, in stock, all cds that are on the playlist for the local NPR station. He puts them out to buy a day earlier. SHHH! Don't Tell anyone. So, this afternoon I was able to enjoy the beautiful talent of Ms. Griffin. Rain, Chief, Tomorrow Night, Nobody's Crying, and Making Pies are outstanding. There is not a single song on the cd that should not be there, or seems to be a problem of any kind. They are all just great. I was not sure if I could believe she would really have a cd out.. I wasn't going to get my hopes up until I had it in my hands. I realize tomorrow, tuesday, a lot more of you will be enjoying the sounds of Patty's new cd. Can't wait to hear what everyone has to say. later, matthew ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Apr 2002 04:41:28 +0000 From: "Mare :-)" Subject: Re: MM: 1000 Kisses besides the fact that i haven't got past Rain I absolutely love the CD! - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail.
