["Amy Emerman" Subject: [none] "They may not be playing to sold-out arenas or have videos in heavy rotation on MTV, but I don't think any of us really wants to see that happen with Patty or any of our other favorite 'small' artists." I could stand it... music doesn't get bad because it gets popular, it nor does it get popular because it is bad. there is psychology and business and so on. i would be amazed if every person on this list doesn't have at least one popular band or musician that he or she enjoys. sure it is fun to know about Patty before all of creation does, but do you really want to keep her to yourself? peace all, and holler if you see her down NC way. i have a diamond ring and a whole lot of DAT tape with her name on it. ~foto Yahoo! Oh, my God! I just realized Patty is going to be doing an in-store performance at my local bookstore right in the neighborhood where I grew up! She's playing in the Kips Bay Borders at 5pm on April 9th. That is so friggin' cool! I grew up in the Kips Bay buildings right there. Later that night I may go to the Joe's Pub show but if I don't make Joe's Pub at least I can see her perform for free at BOrder's and buy her new CD there! YAY! I am so psyched! Patty is great...!!!!!! Eleanor Mc Elvoy will never be a big seller or name that most juvenile clerks at overpriced stores (that will someday be bankrupt, you can count on that) will know about. I try to educate the rascals about the fact that their missing out on a good thing, knowing they don't care. For me that's the thing! No one listened in 1994 when we saw Sarah Mclachlan at a small setting in Cleveland, nor Dar when we saw her in front of 50 people at Kent State in 1997. I love it when I see someone for 20.00 in a small setting, dont care if the greasers are still listening to Weed, sorry, Creed, or some other group that likes to scream / not sing to the masses. I look forward to going to the Odeon in Cleveland to see Patty with people who love her music, dont care if the coconut guy knows or not. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Mar 2002 23:03:51 EST From: Gashlycrumb@aol.com Subject: MM: Non-Patty Questions I was wondering if anyone on this list has any info on the two artist who seem to have disappeared. Beth Orton Dayna Manning Their websites are very outdated, the record companies have little to no info on their sites. Wondering if anyone new ANYTHING at all. Thanks. Really weird. And her name.com is... a porn site! Woohoo ;) j/k Anyway, that's all I know. I don't post very often, but thought I'd send a heads up. I work in the music dept of a Barnes & Noble and today we recieved the info on our April sale- as well as the cds we'll be playing. Can i tell you how surprised & happy I was to see that Patty's new album is among them?? Her cd is singled out in our monthly planner, with a great quote from Billboard magazine... we're also getting a cool cash register display for her & she'll be on the listening station. Granted, B&N usually has pricey discs, but I *love* the fact that we're really going to be pushing this album. You can bet that I will be playing the cd as much as possible! Sadly, here in Miami there doesn't seem to be a very big audience for music like Patty's. I can't wait to hear the album tomorrow morning! peace, rick and these days i wish i was 6 again oh make me a red cape, i wanna be superman if only my life was more like 1983 all these things would be more like they were at the start of me -john mayer Let's Face It, Kids... rick's webpage ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #104 *********************************
