Instead, he gave me the, "Sean if anyone ever calls your sister a slut, you must kick his ass, or get yours kicked trying" speech. At the same time, my sister was given the, "If you don't want to be called a slut, don't give people reasons to be called slut" speech and my brother got the "get rid of the f*@!ing mohawk!" speech. I find the idea of the Britneys and Christinas of the world being used as a toll of female empowerment to be absolutely preposterous. It flies in the face of the movement that real women have pursued over many years in America. When fourteen year-olds can sit around complimenting each other's navel rings and spouting "Girl Power!" as if it was a real mantra of the disenfranchised, while working women to receive less pay than their male counterparts for equal work, it is a slap in the face to feminism, not to mention equal rights as a whole. The question needs to be asked: Is strength in womanhood derived from wearing a barley-there outfit, or from demanding the respect that is due to be treated as equals in a society dominated by white male corporate culture? I personally feel more guilty than ever having access to those songs without her getting any benefit from it at all, considering what she went through, although I don't feel guilty enough not to do it because like everyone else on this list I'm a Patty Freak. ( and I mean that in a good way) I really don't know how it would work so I guess I'm just throwing it out there to see if anyone else has the same thoughts on it as I do. Maybe decide on a set price and have one lucky person give it to her at her show and run like hell afterwards?? :) Any thoughts??????? Ronni Yahoo! Someone was looking for an intelligent quote from Britney "I'm a slave for you" she probably didn't write it but she certainly speaks the truth about her life in music right now..... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Mar 2002 19:43:26 -0500 From: "* Darcie *" Subject: Re: MM:talk about -SEX APPEAL!!!! I CAN TYPE IN CAPS TOO. YES IT'S A BIZNAZ. AND DRESSING SEXY SELLS RECORDS, AND THOSE GIRLS ARE TOOLS TO MAKE MONEY. THAT IS WHAT THEIR LABELS WANT THEM TO DO, AND THAT IS WHY THEY SIGNED. LITTLE GILRS EMULATING BRITNEY? WELL IF THEY'RE SO LITTLE, (NOT OLD ENOUGH TO HOLD A JOB) HOW DO THEY BUY THESE RECORDS AND SEE CHRISTINA OR BRITNEY??? BECAUSE THEY'RE PARENTS BUY THEM THEIR CDS AND PAY THE CABLE BILL. This shouldn't be this big a deal. How can you mix prostitution with the music business? Maybe I'm so sensitive to this because I'm on a national label. These girls aren't posing in Biggin's or Penthouse or some crazy shit like that. Don't get your panties in a wad for Christ's sake. And another thing, I applaud Nikka for touring as the opener for Britney. I would do it. She'll blow Britney off the stage, as long as young girls feebles minds can take Nikka... she's TOO awesome. Which equals more exposure for Nikka. Speaking of sex appeal -----Dave, am I wrong or right here, Nikka has GOT some sex appeal! Quite a CRACK between the Brits and Christinas.... I agree with Darcie...Brittney is not telling girls to dress the way she does so why are we blaming her. I think that it is the parents responsibility to monitor what their kids are doing. I think it is great that Nikka is opening for Brittney because my sister told me she would get me tickets to either Brittney or NSYNC when they come to Boston (I know so many excellent choices) Now I am psyched because I can go to a good concert... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Mar 2002 20:16:06 EST From: FlamingRed74@aol.com Subject: Re: MM:talk about -SEX APPEAL!!!!
