Kinda produced but that's OK. And my friend went to see her on the tour and said she was amazing. Then again, I also like the new Kasey Chambers. Odd voice but it grows on you. But I know several folks on the list bought the album and didn't like it all that much. You know what? I would recommend going on the Net to hear sound samples, or going to your local cool indie record store, to listen to the album before you buy. In this day and age it's not that hard to hear something first, radio play or not. (Speaking of radio play, I don't normally like Alanis but that "Hands Clean" song is SUPER CATCHY... I catch myself singing it all the time in my Alanis/Katherine Hepburn voice...) You know, just 'cuz we all like Patty doesn't mean we only have to recommend female artists. Some of my fave things from last year came from guys: Ryan Adams, Ben Folds, John Mayer, Jimmy Eat World (rockin' but great songwriting nonetheless), and Dashboard Confessional, which is one guy on guitar and tortured lyrics that remind me of a young Ani DiFranco. There's also a brand-new band called Elbow ("Asleep In The Dark") that sounds like a darker Coldplay... epic, swirling songs with Pink Floyd-ian touches. And Shannon McNally ("Jukebox Sparrows") has an earthy voice and sound that recalls the best parts of Joan Osborne. Oh yeah, and there's also some album called... "A Thousand Wishes"? Coming out in April?? :^) - --rICH Listen to Rich: Check out the official website of Backyard Green, featuring tour dates, lyrics, pictures, and sound clips from the new album: http://www.backyardgreen.com And be sure to check out Rich's solo website at: http://listen.to/rich.com http://www.geocities.com/richardchallen ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Feb 2002 12:18:21 -0500 From: "Don Henn" Subject: MM: Patty Dates MMers , Patty at the Ark , April 21. We added a few more lyrics for some of the new songs including Pa Janvier ... More news - concert dates!!!! I got in contact with ATO and they love my site!!!!! I'll have a banner up soon to pre-order 1000 Kisses Oh... come on I really need more feedback on the new site ideas: http://www.pattygriffin.net/NewSite/newtemplatetest.html http://www.pattygriffin.net/NewSite/Newstemplate2.html Everyone seems to be completely 50/50 about this and I NEED to choose a design to proceed with! (if you aren't using a broswer that is compliant with the current web standards these won't look too pretty... seriously - download a new broswer even if it means leaving your internet connected over night!) And - the mp3's are finally on-line but at a temporary home. Jason is hosting the mp3's right now. By the way - if you guys are ever looking for some rare CD's you should check out his store: www.singlecollector.com Great news is that the mp3s and MPEG videos will have a permanent home pretty soon with an overwhelming about of bandwidth and storage thanks to my new spiritual advisor, Sanders!! (y'all need to kiss this guys feet when he publishes his info) hehe I need a lawyer!!!! No.. I'm not in trouble and I even kind of think I'm in the clear since ATO has seen the page and they love it... but I would really like if someone who knew the law could draft up my disclaimer for the Media Page... I just want it to say that I'll never put any copywrighted material up there or things that can be found on a cd.. and that if ATO/Patty ever wants me to remove them then I will.... I just don't want these awesome people that have donated storage to get in trouble on our behalf. Well.. that's about it! Look at the charming note (below) that "Disgruntled" sent to me privately, in response to my innocuous general comment about our Evil Gary. Aside from his major (anti)social personality issues, Mr. Toomey apparently doesn't have the intelligence to read simple e-mails accurately. Good riddance. >Dear whore, > I didn't want stock tips, but they would have been more useful than the >shit that was in my inbox. >Scott ToomeyGet more from the Web. Seeing Patty at the Ark is something you DON'T want to miss!> I have to second this recommendation! I drove from Central PA to see Patty at the Ark once, and it was great. The only other area that has the same passion for Patty is the Philly area. Seeing her concerts in both areas, I'd have to say it's a toss up. If you can see Patty headlining in either of these places, you will be surrounded by Patty's biggest & most supportive fans! (although it could stretch longer if Murphy's Law decides to apply itself) Just wanted to let you know in case you send a post to this list and it does not show up in the usual amount of time.
