How he goes on and on about how this talented young girl is going to take the world by storm and is already garnering massive praise for her first CD. And perhaps like me, you have read these glowing words and rolled your eyes, thinking, "Hey, this is Patty's list, enough of this Darcie chick!" I've been into Patty and her music for a couple years now and consider myself a true fan. Not as hardcore as Don perhaps, but I'm sincere in my love of Patty. My musical tastes range from all Patty, to a little bit of Flaming Red Patty, and on a slow day, some Living with Ghosts Patty to mellow me out. In spite of all the truly great suggestions made by this list to sample some new music, I have stubbornly stuck with my Patty, gathering any and all unreleased songs or compilations of hers that come my way. But recently Dave persuaded me to just give Darcie a try and I did. Let me just say that his praise of her does not even come CLOSE to doing her justice. This girl is amazing. Her voice is strong, her music is beautiful and her band kicks ass. I couldn't even believe that I said this, but on hearing her versions of Tony and Flaming Red, I had to admit, "This is almost as good as Patty herself!!" GASP! I know that sounds blasphemous, but Patty would understand if she heard Darcie do her songs. In short, RUN do not walk to the nearest store and get this CD. Better yet, go to her website and hear a few tracks to decide for yourself. Just type in Darcie Miner to any search engine and that should do the trick. All I can say is that now, in addition to listening to only Patty, I have added my meager beginnings of my Darcie Miner musical collection to the listening rotation. I hope to add much more to it in the very near future. Dave, post another email to the list with Darcie's info. I know you have before, but these people need to act now! I will check this out myself and review my findings right here. You can count on me for an honest critique. Maybe she will be on our list soon! She will be seeing Patty again at Sedona and this time she will know at least the old songs if not the new ones. I just gave some Patty to a friend at work 2 days ago who only knew Patty's name, never really listened to her- and she already loves her! Dana= Mad Missionary "I have to share my Patti Griffin experience. I thought she was good after the first time I saw her, liked her after the second time I saw her. Bought 'Living with Ghosts' two weeks ago and now I GET IT! I can't get past the first 4 songs most of the time, I just keep going back to the beginning and starting over. I bought 'Flaming Red' yesterday butt haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. It has been a really long time since I had this experience with an artist that is new to me, or even a new album of an artist I already like. Less than 4 weeks to go!!!! I haven't caught her live but hopefully will soon... she definitely has some amazing things ahead of her in the future, I predict :) Jess, who is recording in the same studio as DM this fall and hopes to steal her for help on a song or two :) www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 17:29:39 EDT From: FlamingRed74@cs.com Subject: Re: MM: NPC: Darcie Miner Ha ha! Ok, so I've been summoned to give the info on how to get Darcie's CD again. :-) Gee, why me? Her website is www.darcieminer.com All the details of ordering her CD are right there on the front page. Tour dates are also there, but there are not very many as of now because she is recording her FIRST national release at this very moment. As Jessica said she & Darcie have recorded at Saturation Acres, which is the recording studio owned by Bret Alexander & Paul Smith, 2 incredible local musicians who were in The Badlees. The Badlees are actually the band on Darcie's CD that's available on the website, but she will be using her own band on the recording of the new full length studio album. (that IS correct isn't it Darcie?) I'm SO happy that so many people share my passion for Darcie's music! The first time I saw her I knew she was destined for greatness.. I just didn't realize it would be this quickly! Darcie, don't ever forget me!! ... you know, me, Dave.. (that guy who you haven't seen for awhile now but used to go to so many of your shows).. ha ha.. Dave.. who is putting off packing for his trip to Miami beach tomorrow! :-) ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V5 #226 *********************************
