Melissa Ferrick has been going around and around and around on this one. The poor girl has changed distributors several times to try to get her music out there. Edie Carey (who is a DEFINATE considereable talent...) has begun to rely on "street team members" to HELP her distribution. She being with a smaller record company doesn't get to your average wal-mart :-) buttt, if her distributor could get the company that dispenses the music wal-mart will sell (THEIR distributor in otherwords) to carry her cd, then well, yeah, the whole if you were out, ordering another one thing would take place. This is what I have picked up from the explanations I have been given. It's not pure fact. In many instances, it might be very very wrong. For example, Streetlight Records in SF many times will vary what they carry from store to store. The store on market st outside of castro carries quite a bit the one at 26th and sanchez in noe valley does not...etc. etc... but alas, i ramble... just thought maybe i'd try to help, i don't know if i saw a reply to your message or not... any-hoo think happy patty thoughts as always, doug but since ani is well...damn, she's ani...and that there is one heck of a statement in itself!! - --- FoxDugal@aol.com wrote: > What I don't understand is since the > freaking record company already > paid to make the album, wouldn't it make far more > sense to just distribute it > and make whatever money they can? In light of recent posts from listees looking for lyrics, I've tried submitting some to this site. I was hoping to figure out all the songs on LFML in my spare time (I've got plenty) but some of the emails I've sent out months ago haven't even been read yet. The lyrics site is a great resource when you just can't figure out what that woman is saying. God bless 'er though. She knows how to own a song.
