I am sure this has been asked many times before, but is there any chance that the full-band demos she did for the first album are being traded by anyone? I would LOVE to have them. I have some Patty shows I could trade and tons of material by a bunch of other artists, in case anyone is interested. Even if it isn't around it would help me to know that so I'll stop wondering about it. Also, would anyone be willing to trade me for Sessions at West 54th with Patty from a few years ago? Thanks! Me, too. >smile< She has not heard of many of the incredible female singers out there. I decided i will put together a cd of singers for her. I wanted mostly folk.. but, really any singer/songwriter female will work. I want artist who are still releasing, and are pretty relevant. So she knows what is out there. I have decided to call the cd, 'Flinty Kind of Women'. (obviously dar williams' flinty kind of woman' will already appear on the cd). I need 17 female/singer/songwriters for someone who is searching for great music. Looking for ideas. Thanks much.. i know how some people HATE these lists. She's a member of this list, and just signed (or is about to sign) a national record deal. I've seen her .. oh, too many times to count. Right now she has a 7 song EP available on her website. The national release should be out shortly, but the EP is superb. She is a singer/songwriter (not really folky) but her songs are really diverse. I've seen her advertised as folk, acoustic rock, etc.. One song can be really rocking, next one may sound country-ish, just mid-tempo acoustic rock.. and I have to mention that she's the ONLY person I've ever heard cover multiple Patty songs and do all of them EXTREMELY well. I never thought that was possible, but she proved me wrong. Definitely check her out! Darcie rocks and she is signed to a great label :) Looking forward to the major label debut! ;) Her EP is excellent! Get it before it's no longer available. I had her song "Goodbye" on repeat a few days ago because the lyrics completely mirror a situation I'm going through right now w/ my younger brother :( Great song and great album! jess www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 12:11:18 -0500 From: "amber bass-patterson" Subject: Re: MM: Another List my fav, iris dement. amber "Through Movement We Find Health" The Nia Technique ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 13:15:06 EDT From: Mooodeee@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Another List Libby Kirkpatrick!! www.libbykirkpatrick.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 10:48:20 -0700 (PDT) From: "Aubrey L. Steph Sasso ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 23:05:01 EDT From: FlamingRed74@cs.com Subject: MM: for those contributing to "the lists".. it would be nice if you could take the time to write WHY you think we should check these artists out. I can tell you that too many artists are recommended to me by various people of different lists & even in person at concerts. If someone throws a bunch of names out there but gives no particular reason to check that artist out, or even describe the music that the mentioned person plays I'm sure as heck not going to be interested enough to run out (or search the web) & buy their CD. That is also true for the person making the compilation. They've probably heard 75% of those names before but don't know enough about the artists mentioned to buy their music. If you could even write 2 or 3 sentences it would be incredibly helpful, & I (as well as many others) may become interested enough to check out their music. On this note, one other person I should definitely mention is Nancy Micciulla. She's a singer/songwriter who grew up in the Philly area. She just has 1 demo done, but she is one of the best songwriters around. Don (a frequent poster) on this list can attest to that. As well as being very adept at writing songs straight from her heart (like Patty), she has such an amazing voice! Wow! The first time I heard her sing was actually over the phone (yes, we're friends now too) but I couldn't believe my ears. From that one moment of hearing her over the phone I drove 4 hours to hear her play a small coffee house & I've pretty much done anything in my power to get her music heard ever since then. If you want more info on her feel free to email me & I can hook you up with a demo tape or CD (your choice, but the tape has a J-Card). She also has a website at www.paperwings.de It's run by one of her adoring fans in Germany who got a demo tape from me & Loved it so much that he volunteered to do a Nancy site.. :-) God Bless Him! 1 week until the Birchmere Baby!!! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 23:26:09 EDT From: NeuroticView@aol.com Subject: MM: Darcie Miner I went to the Darcie Miner website.. but found no way to order her Ep. How? I would love to hear the songs after all the rave reviews. matthew ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2001 00:02:29 EDT From: FlamingRed74@cs.com Subject: Re: MM: Darcie Miner everyone.. Sorry for not mentioning this before.. if you go to Darcieminer.com and scroll down the main page there is a place telling you how to get the Cd. You can either send a check or money order, or even buy it with a credit card over the net. If you live anywhere in the central PA area (including DC, Baltimore, Philly etc..) she and her band play around the area all the time. One of her headlining shows is well worth a 2 hour drive b/c she plays a LONG time. She has solo, duo (her and her cool & VERY talented bass player), and full band shows. I can't really recommend one or the other to you but you have to hear her live if you like the CD. She really is 10 times better live..& her voice has gotten even better (in my opinion) since the EP ..you won't believe your ears! You just have to avoid those stupid places where the sound sucks or I could make a liar out of myself, but that would be the problem of the venue, not the performer! Hope this helps..
