I think I will fly next time. I said the same thing a few years ago after I took Amtrack for 27 hrs from New Haven to Orlando with my mother and 2 kids {my mother was afraid to fly so I had the brilliant idea of going Amtrack}- are we there yet? I now remember my resolution after that trip- If I can't fly, I am not going! California 5 goes on forever in the dark - just straight thru the Central Valley-- trucks trucks trucks and it is pretty busy all night long. everyone going 80-90. I thought I was going to die the whole 8 -9 hrs. If I could have listened to LFML the whole way-{ I did sneak it in the CD player once or twice while it was my turn to drive} it would have been a lot better, but my 18 yr old son Mike is into trance- loud trance. Let's just say it was sort of the Drive From Hell. We also got the chance to drill Smashing Pumpkins- better than trance- Marilyn Manson and CURE into Mom. Jayne put on REM which I like and I got to listen to Richard Shindell in the early AM from LA to San Diego while they were asleep and I had the choice. Anyway- for driving songs- Garnet Rogers has two awesome songs on his Night Drive CD- Golden Fields and Night Drive. He really sets the scene for driving mile after mile. They are also about the loss of his brother, Stan Rogers, who he had previously done all that driving with while touring Canada and the US. I cried for a couple of days due to those 2 songs. Major songs. Also Richard Shindell- Next Best Western. He has another awesome song on his latest CD- about driving thru the Delaware Water Gap- Transit. That one went on repeat on the way to SD. It is really a Major song too. Safe travel everyone- you too Don- I know you will be all over the place catching Patty in concert. Wish I could get to the East Coast this summer. I have to work so I can get back to Sedona in Oct- FLYING. Cheers, Dana in Berkeley ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V5 #157 *********************************
