Your Barenaked Ladies CD look like it rolled around in Poison Ivy? If so, have you been near Belize with your CD collection recently? Why do I ask? I found this lil' tidbit in the USA Today today: A Fungus Among Us - on CDs Before you blame your dog for chewing on your CD collection the next time you can't play one, check the edges. Scientists in Spain have identified a new form of fungus that eats compact disks, reports the BBC. But if you haven't been traveling to a tropical area, chances are your songs are still safe. A geologist at the Museum Of Natural History in Madrid discovered the fungus( which belongs to the common Geotrichium family) on CDs brought back from the Central American state of Belize, the BBC says. The fungus attacks the outer edges of CDs, eating plastic and even aluminum. Mike ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V5 #154 *********************************
