Hi, I don't mean to instill panic, but my co-worker, a die-hard Patty fan also, just came over to tell me that he heard that Patty's new album, Silver Bells, was not gonna be released b/c her label didn't like it... and that we can only get it from some British DJ guy's Web site or something. Tell me it's not true!!! And if it is true, where do we get it? I really feel like I've been riding a rollercoaster over this past year regarding this new record. I try to not get excited anymore when I hear good news. But, of course, it's impossible. I can't imagine how tossed around and emotionally drained (and frustrated) Patty must feel trying to get it out. We probably on feel a fraction of what she is going through. ~ Riff "Don't just exist. I have a suggestion. While everyone is spending their time fretting about the release of Silver Bell you should really go see Amy Ray and the Butchies. I saw them last night. What an awesome show! Has anyone from this list gone to see them? I had never heard of the Butchies until last night, but they were amazing!! I have never seen women rock so hard. So, if they haven't already passed your town on their tour I HIGHLY recommend paying the 10 bucks to go see them. Plus, Amy Ray is just awesome...although I still think I like her best when she's with Emily doing the Indigo Girls thing. To me, it really shows Amy Ray's talents that she can just go solo and perform essentially a whole new type of music. She's always been the more rockin Indigo Girl but you haven't seen anything till you go see her with the Butchies. That is my suggestion..I hope some of you are interested. It's based outta Nashville. she'd fit in well their with the americana flair. and again, lost highway would have to pay her out of her contract binding that record with interscope, to be able to have the rights to release silverbell on their label. otherwise she'd have to record all over again. which may happen. i visited with the folks at Island. they are VERY artist friendly, and very much into giving their artist's freedom. this was one of the final labels i visited to make my decision. i say she should go for it, but then again patty's always said she's happy where she stands as an artist. (but NO ONE likes their music to be screwed with like this.) how well has her records sold? i'd love to know. i think they are some of the greatest albums ever made. if "lwg" didn't sell that well, why did interscope pick her up after the seagrams merge? BECAUSE SHE'S AN INCREDIBLE artist!! so why the fuck are they taking their time? didn't "fr" sell well? had she gone gold with any of these? just wondering..... either way, she's doing great for herself. all the songs she's written that people are covering - patty's got a bit of cash in her pocket from that...... so i'm sure it's a wait from here. in the words of tom petty, "waiting is the hardest part," ~darc~ http://www.darcieminer.com
