So I said to myself, hey, seems everyone on the Patty list is always talking about Dar, so, what the hey, I'll go. So I dragged my friend Jessica along. Well as you may imagine, once I dig out from the two feet of snow they're predicting for us, I will go out and buy ALL of her CDs. We sat in the second row -- spitting distance, if you will. She was awesome. So talented as a singer/songwriter, but soooo funny. It was half a comedy show, I swear! So, thanks to all who spoke of her on this list...while I am mostly a sidelines participant, I benefit greatly from hanging around here. So it isn't just Evil Gary's and Paul's posts that I live for anymore! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Mar 2001 11:42:15 -0800 (PST) From: "Douglas J. Sheesh! What is going on? Is it production issues? Put it in a brown paper bag and be done with it. Is it financing issues? Send me a bill, I'll pay for it. Whatever it is, I can't believe how flustered I'm getting over it. - -----Original Message----- From: dissident@mindspring.com [mailto:dissident@mindspring.com] Sent: Monday, March 05, 2001 3:36 PM To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: MM: Buddy Miller on Silver Bell I read a brief interview with Buddy Miller yesterday - it was more like a quick questionnaire type of thing. Good question, Doug. I think I have some important news to share on this one. It seems that Interscope records has been using the Aztec Calendar for announcing the release dates of Patty Griffin's latest CD. What they failed to take into account, however, was that the Aztec Calendar stopped in August 1999. ...Doh! ......TIMMAY!!! As they put off the previously announced March release, I think it has been currently postponed until early summer, possibly even next September. Oh, I just came up with a great PR strategy for Interscope. They can include a ticket/rebate thingy for a complimentary drink at a local pub on every Patty Griffin CD. Yeah, that would be cool. I'd buy tons of Patty Griffin CDs. Well, I'd buy them anyway. But the alcohol teaser would be nice. Unless, of course, I'm an alcoholic. Then it would just perpetuate a problem, I suppose. Or if I was alergic to alcohol...or if I got the CD as a sick joke while I was in prison. Then that would suck. That would suck ass. Like a vacuum cleaner in space. And the worst part about it is, I never learned to read!!!! AUGGGHHHH!!! ahem. uh, what was the question again? gotta go. Thars fish in mah terlet. I'm a gonna fish 'em out. Watch what you say around here. The guy running this site tosses people like bird seed in central park. Not anyone I know here rolls their eyes at anyone else. We do have one person with a wandering eye, another with a lazy eye, but no rolling eyes that I know of. Feel free to say whatever you want here for the first month without reprisal. After that you're open game. Now I must go before the owner catches me here. Patty's new cd will be released when I say so. Not one second before. Remember that. She is my little monkey girl. Patty if your out there (?) Evil says don't release the CD until we have them at a fevered pitch. Paul is the first to crack but we expected that. The loud mouth yaps will be next unless I miss my guess, followed by my lesbian lover in Austin. Again, welcome Doug. Evil Gary - ----- Original Message ----- From: Douglas J. According to Patty's management (whom I JUST received an email from), there is not yet a confirmed new date for the release of Silver Bell, but they hope to have "more info for you soon". Even while the track listing they supplied to us last year was turned in to Interscope/A&M, nothing is yet etched in stone. They also said to pass this on: "for now if you could just let everyone know that we appreciate their patience. We are working very hard with the label to put out the best possible record for Patty's fans. Trust me, it will be worth the wait.
