Now what am I going to do with 5 copies of Patty Griffin's CD cover? I know. I'll use them as beer coasters. Yeah, that's the ticket. As the evil people in Jack Chick comics always say, "haw haw haw." (gotta love 'em. Chick tracts rule if you read them right.) Okay, so I didn't win anything. What the hell was the answer? I still like mine...they all had to do with the weather channel except "opaque." I pride myself in giving the example that some weather girl would say, "...and it reached absolute zero in Itsacold, North Dakota. Tomorrow the temperature will skyrocket up to negative 150 and the bodies will be retreived." Gotta go smoke some more crack. paul *************************** * Everything I need out * * of life I've learned * * from pornos. * * -- me (Paul Russell)* * * *************************** _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 20:19:50 -0800 (PST) From: Lisa C Subject: MM: LFML - a little help? None the less, here it is (for the 100 or so of you that did not get it correct). The question was: >Which one of the following eight words/terms do not belong in this grouping and >why? > >opaque nor'easter degree high >turbulence muggy absolute storm ....and the answer is "muggy", as it is the only word of the eight that does not BEGIN with two consecutive letters of the alphabet (English alphabet). OPaque NOr'easter DEgree HIgh TUrbulence muggy ABsolute STorm The nine winners who guessed it correctly will have their prizes mailed out on Monday. I did have two people send in correct answers a couple of hours after winner #9 came in. I will be sending them a copy of the Flaming Red promo tape as a consolation prize. The same goes for the two of you who correctly guessed "muggy", but had the reason _slightly_ off (they had said it was the only word that did not have two consecutive letters in it, while pointing out the ST in "nor'easter" and the GH in high. They were right of course, but it was not the answer that I was looking for. Close enough for a consolation prize though). The funniest answer? While three or four eventually alluded to the same topic with guesses, Evil Gary sent a response in early guessing that the answer was "absolute", as it was the only one of the eight that is the name of a vodka. It certainly caught me off guard and I had a good laugh....I was not expecting comical answers....not to mention what Gary said was somewhat true (even though the vodka is spelled "Absolut"). Of course, many of you sent in other answers that were indeed true, they just were not the one I was looking for. As I said in my posts for the contests, I will be having more contests with some Patty Griffin promotional items as prizes. The next one will be in about two weeks. Mike :-) P.S. I won't be publicizing the names nor email addresses of the winners, as many people do lurk on mailing lists or just want their privacy, plus I never sought permission to post that information. - - * The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/pattyg * * Rachel Martin's Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive is at * http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/3079/patty.html * * Jerry Zigmont's Flaming Red - A Patty Griffin Website is at * http://members.tripod.com/PattyGriffin * * Katie Peterson's Patty Griffin Guitar Tabs Archive is at * http://members.tripod.com/~Lifey/patty.html * * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 on AOL and/or AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 13:45:34 -0600 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: MM: Re: Patty promo contest over - we have 9 winners now Paul wrote: > What the hell was the answer? I got all eight of them off the Weather Glossary section of www.weather.com (the Weather Channels' official web site) Mike ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 14:42:38 -0500 From: Gary Jacques Subject: MM: RE: The answer to Patty Promo Contest #1 AHHH HAAAA! Note that Mike will not post the names of the winners. Because it was fixed I tell ya. Took care of all the big yaps on the list. MIke that was a lousy question. A better question would have been, Name the play list of the last twelve Patty shows? Or how many people voted to have Evil tos'd from this list? Or, what color was Patty's hair before she died it Red? Just what we need, some question that only people that know the english language could answer. Very unfair to the rest of us. IMHO P.S.
