It's like a breath of fresh air. And even the semi-reclusive Jason Falkner makes an appearance. Another recommendation, with a funky twist, is Nelly Furtado (Whoa Nelly). I first heard her on L.A.'a Public Radio station and now it seems like everyone is playing her. Good stuff. Makes ya wanna get up and shaker yer groove thang! I also love Coldplay (Parachutes)-one of my faves of the past year, as well as the Dandy Warhols (13 Tales from Urban Bohemia). And then there's Josh Rouse (Home).Pete Yorn. Wow, there's a lot of good music out there! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2001 22:58:25 EST From: NeuroticView@aol.com Subject: MM: Patty, Tegan, Sara, and LFML I second the recommendation for the Tegan and Sara cd. Although the style of music is not anything unique (very Ani Difranco... that's a good thing), each song has incredible lyrics and amazing vocals. 'More For Me' may be the best song I heard all year. I have labeled it my 'theme song' for this month. Check out 'This Business of Art' by Tegan and Sara. I also am responding to the LFML comments. These are 2 incredible cds. The songs are much more clear than earlier patty live recordings. I now have so many new songs in which to give as a reason for enjoying patty so much. 'shells', 'i write the book' , 'nobody's crying', 'unnecessary', etc. An endless list of wonderful songs. I am so upset to hear about the push back..until JUNE. Although that is my birthday..and, the end of the college year.. so.. that would make it three great things in one month >smile<. I was still hoping for March..just so i could have more patty. I guess i must wait. Later, Matthew 'i got a picture of the way i looked when i was three i came out laughing screaming dancing i used to be free spirited now i'm just free of sleep' - -tegan and sara, more for me (this business of art) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2001 23:38:46 EST From: RocketsTail@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Recommendation I'm thirding or fourthing the recommendation for Amy Correia's "Carnival Love" and also wanting to add that if anyone has the chance to see her live...GO! ~eric "What's it like... when your memories start to freeze?" ~Sarah Harmer ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2001 00:07:00 -0500 From: "Donald Henn" Subject: MM: Re: ? About Love From My Lips I found a lot of new info at www.johnfhiggins.com Don > However, I have a question. Is there a source anywhere online or otherwise that gives more details about these songs, as to when they were written, recorded, etc.? I'm very curious as to where to associate these tunes in the "Patty Timeline." ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2001 00:51:12 EST From: FlamingRed74@cs.com Subject: MM: Interscope SUCKS Hey guys, Ok.. I guess I don't really need to vent here, but here it goes.. Patty finished recording Silver Bell about this time last year. She did a "warm up" tour for the Silver Bell tour last April.. and now she's waited over half a year for the Cd to be released. Now.. she has to wait ANOTHER half year.. and who knows if they'll even release it then!? *HELLO Interscope, you guys SUCK*. I can't agree with Gary any more when he says LWG was recorded in an apartment somewhere & is the best acoustic CD he's ever heard. I realize this is not just an acoustic Cd, but like Gary says, we do NOT want "polished Patty". Part of the problem that most people had with Flaming Red was overproduction. This really worries me.. all these songs were PERFECT when she toured last year.. and messing with them is certainly not going to make them better. Ok, I think I need to say this again.. Interscope, I hate you I hate you I hate you I hate you.. you lousy pieces of DIRT! Stop dragging your stinking feet and release this CD that has been done for a year now!!! Don made a very good point when we first heard the rearranged version of "Perfect White Girls". She cut out the "If you kiss their asses long enough, they might let you kiss their asses", and he immediately knew it was the record company editing the song. I figured she just took out the verse herself, b/c I thought Patty would allow NOONE to tell her how to play one of her own songs.. Now I have to believe that what he said is probably true.. IF they changed a verse in a song, what the heck are they doing now with months of "changing things around"? Ahh.. ok, I'll stop now b/c I know this is not going to do any good (other than releasing stress).. LOL If it wouldn't hurt the artitsts on the label, I'd seriously be thinking about boycotting all Interscope albums from now on.. Does anyone have an email address for this god-forsaken company so I can write and harrass them?? I was looking as much forward to a Patty tour this spring as I was the Patty CD.. Rot in HE-double hockey sticks Interscope! Dave ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2001 00:59:05 EST From: FlamingRed74@cs.com Subject: MM: one more rant, then I'm done.. To continue briefly, I feel that Patty is one of those artists that has a constant flow of creativity flowing through her. I know this b/c of the hundred or so songs that she has written. How is all this waiting around going to have an impact on her creativity? It can't be healthy to record a CD, then sit around for a year and a half expecting the music you wrote WAY back when to be released any day now.. only to have it pushed back, then pushed back some more. Her performances rely so much on the energy and the passion for her songs. If she can't live those songs anymore.. in other words, if she's not able to feel what she felt when she wrote the song, and not able to live those songs anymore in concert, the songs (and her performance) will suffer greatly... I think I'm more frustrated for Patty as a person than I am for myself and not being able to hear the CD for a few months now. If I was Troy I'd be in there busting some butts for her! Come on Troy!! Sorry guys.. for all of the newbies to the list I usually don't act like this.. honest! I just don't understand why they feel the need to hold back this album when it's been ready for so long. I mean, how much "polishing" can they do on someone so near perfect as Patty? Am I just being stupid, or what? Eryn - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2001 12:51 AM Subject: MM: Interscope SUCKS > Hey guys, > > Ok..
