It's Miles! I've been a silent subscriber for about a year and a half. I'm a huge Patty worshipper from NYC and I've seen Patty @ several venues here and in South Carolina where I'm from......I've traded bootlegs with a few of you. Now, I'm 9 days I leave for Alaska for the first ever ALASKA AIDS VACCINE RIDE! I will be riding my bicycle for 510 miles to raise money for 3 teams of scientists to develop an AIDS vaccine. I'm so excited about the entire experience....the cause.......and the challenge. One of the biggest challenges has been trying to raise money. One reason is due to my own health problems which have set me back a few weeks in training and fund raising. But I am still determined to fulfill my dream and do what I set out to do one year ago when I signed up for this event. Last year I raised almost $7,000.00 for the Boston/New York AIDS Ride. This year I got a very late start and I'm still $2,000.00 short of the $3,900.00 minimum that is required to actually DO the ride! I'm asking everyone who can, to help me reach this requirement (totally tax deductible) for an amazing cause...to find a vaccine for AIDS.....so we can all feel like we've done something to fight this horrific disease that has taken so many of our loved ones and family. If you have not yet donated you can do so on line (follow the link below) or download a donation form, also on the web site. Please makes checks payable to ALASKA AIDS VACCINE RIDE and include my name (Miles Dallas) and Rider number (#979) on the check. Because the deadline was July 27th.....either make the donation on line or mail the check to me directly so that I can take it with me to Alaska and give it to them directly, otherwise it may not be credited to my account in time and I won't be allowed to ride my bike at all. I leave New York on the 16th. If I hand the money in to them it will immediately be on my account and I'll be allowed to participate.
