Saw him last year at the XPN singer songwriter weekend and the Newport folk fest. His sister will be at Newport this year. Got to see two great shows this weekend for "free" in Middlebury Vermont. Thursday night it was "John Gorka." Great show! Friday night "The Nields". Even better! Both shows held in the perfect New England town green. Row two center both nights. Maybe 500-1000 people in all. I don't know of any place other than Vermont where someones old Black Lab could stroll back and forth across the stage during the show and not have it be a problem. LOL! I wish everyone could have been there to see this It does not get any better than this. I just went to see the great Steve Earle last night, he blew me away! Played all my favortie songs! He started out with Transcendental Blues, the title track off his latest record; then played like 3 from the record, and then went into Taney Town! That's off of El Corazon....except Emmlyou wasn't there to sing back-up.....boohoo.....but it was STILL a great show. He played Goodbye all by himself, and he did More than I Can Do - it was so great. So many cool songs, with a great opening performance by Marah, from Philly - - great band, sorta early Springsteen style. So anyway, I just wanted to share that that show was quite an expirience, and the Whitaker Center, Harrisburg, is an extremely cool place, I saw Bruce Cockburn there a few months back......it would be the greatest place for Patty to play....man I could see that. Anyspoon, I play there in August with the Badlees and the Martini Bros, it'll be a cool show. To wrap it up, it was an incredible show. 'Nuf said. I've seen Steve Earle, and he rocks indeed, and have been wanting to see Marah badly - care to elaborate on their performance? Maybe I can be convinced to go. I'll second Evil Gary's motion that the Neilds are a great time! I saw them at Newport a few years back and am looking forward to seeing them again in a few weeks. One other thing - anybody have the skinny on this "Girl's Room" tour? Have there been any dates yet? I'm also thinking of hitting this, and would love a little review to help me decide if anyone checks it out.
