Okay, here's a freaking surprise. I actually have something Patty Griffin related that's not old news! I was emailing a friend of mine (also a Patty Griffin fan) and she recently went to see, and talk to, Jackson Browne. She's a huge fan of Jackson Browne and here's what she happened to mention....(oh, don't anyone say I'm violating her privacy or something...I already asked her and she said it was okay, so there). Anyway: I saw him in Jacksonville, and there was no recorded music playing before his show. I met him after the show, and one of my friends was making a suggestion about an artist she would like to see play at his annual benefit in Sedona. He was not really "in" to her suggestion, and asked the group in general who we would like to see, and of course I said "It would be fine with me if you had Patty Griffin with you at EVERY show"... Well, he absolutely LIT UP at that... He grinned from ear to ear and said "Yeah, she is just GREAT, isn't she?" Saw him again a few weeks later in Tampa, and guess what's playing??? LWG! He is obviously a big fan. Apparently, from the list posts on the JB list, he played it at several, (if not all) of the remaining shows on that leg of his tour. There was ALOT of discussion on the JB list about this "new" artist - Patty Griffin. Several people expressed the fact that they went out and bought her CD because of what they heard at the concerts, and then went on to post rave reviews. I can't wait for her new CD... >Jackson has been a fan of hers for a couple of years now, and does try to >promote her periodically... > pretty cool huh? Speaking of pretty cool. Drinking and setting off explosives is cool. I enjoy this Fourth of July thing. I was over at my neighobor's pier helping him light these huge firework mortars up over the water. I didn't know fireworks that big could be legally purchased. I had a pina colada in one hand, and a margarita in the other. Hmmmm. Come to think of it, I probably didn't have a free hand to be much help. I guess I was there for the support. There's nothing more encouraging than a drunk going "yeah! Do it, man. Lemme do some! Whattaryou? chicken? Gimme the lighter! Gimme the lighter!" And for some reason I can't remember anything I did on Sunday...A total blank. But enough about that, Jackson Browne is a big fan of Patty Griffin. Naturally. I think there should be a Browne-Griffin concert tour. kick ass. Gotta go. you know. work here. peace love and vegetable rights, paul ************************************** * Petomane Thru-way??? Now what'll * * that asshole think of next? I was reading the Emmy Lou Harris interview in Billboard. She mentioned how Patty was singing backup on one tune and The Boss who was in town stooped by and spontaneously joined in at the end of the song. I started thinking about the only show Patty ever played in NJ a year or so ago. A 300 seat venue in Collingswood. What a great show. She was very excited about playing her first show in Bruce's home state. Obviously a huge fan. She sang one of his songs in his honor. Anyway, I thought she must have been in heaven in that studio that day. Singing with two legends. Jesus Christ I would have loved to have been there for that.
