It made me wonder how someone could pick just one song that would define them. If you had to pick just one song, what would it be? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jun 2000 19:21:27 -0400 From: Anne Corrigan Subject: MM: NPC: Food for Thought I saw that on Real World too...I think it's not really about songs that define them as much as ones that really get their juices flowin'. I think there'd be a whole lot of legal issues as far as getting ANY song they chose for this CD, I noticed 2 of them had songs by the same artist on there even. As for what I'd pick, if I could pick anything...I'd pick "Precious Things" by Tori Amos...it's not my favorite song (though it'd be in the top 5) but it really was the first song to move me deeply and emotionally in a way I didn't know music was able to. It did that mostly because it reminded me of my own childhood, but instead of the vengeful rage that so many listeners get from it, I cry my eyes out if I listen to carefully and let myself be taken in by it. It is definitly what I'd have to chose. What about anyone else? That said I will make a selection. It would be the Spencer Davis Group "Gimme' Some Lovin". I choose this song because it was the first song that made me close my eyes and wish it was me singing. My life has never been the same! It amazes me... though I've been known to do the same kind of thing for CDs I really want :) *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** The Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive http://www.geocities.com/raitch/patty.html *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 00:55:42 -0400 From: "Eryn Fleming" Subject: MM: Re: NPC: Food for thought It's so hard to pick just one! Um...I guess the song I would have to pick would be "Building a Mystery" by Sarah McLachlan...because Sarah was the first to inspire me, and this song was the first song that I ever played out on my guitar. Hearing "Building a Mystery" on the radio for the first time caused me to go out and buy the CD. I had heard Sarah McLachlan before and loved what I'd heard, but I didn't have any albums. This song sparked my short journey to getting all of her albums. I love Sarah. She's an angel. ~eRyN - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, June 28, 2000 6:54 PM Subject: MM: NPC: Food for thought > I was watching the Real World last night and there was a commercial for the > Real World Album, which featured songs that the various cast members chose as > being influential in their lives, a favorite tune or something like that.
