Here's one more Chicks review clip referencing Patty, from SonicNet.com: Things turned intimate when the trio retreated to a big couch fashioned midstage, where they were joined by singer-songwriter Patty Griffin on her "Let Him Fly." Griffin had opened the show with a set of trance-country that had been largely swallowed up by the failed acoustics in the glorified gymnasium. "I feel like I'm at a pep rally," Seidel said at one point. One comment: "trance-country" !?!? What's THAT? Does Patty employ an on-stage DJ now? I realize that labels are going to be used, but that one really cracked me up. Which brings me to another question - how many in this forum consider Patty to be "country"? I understand why some people do, there are some country elements there, but I for one do not consider her a "country artist." Any thoughts? I'm kinda new, sorry if this is well-covered territory. What the hell? Anyway, I don't think she's country either. I think she's All World baby! How's that for a label. OK somebody - dish! Anyone fortunate enough to have seen Patty open for "The Chicks" here in Salt Lake City, I must have the details... (A friend went to see the DCs and I told her she'd come back with a new favorite in Patty - I was right, of course...) and from a Patty fan! I drove past the Delta Center at about 7, on the way to the Arts Festival, and felt a definate rise in energy around the area! - --Wait - that sounds kinda freaky-new-agey-patchoulli-lovin'... I just mean I could tell that something good was about to hit SLC, there was an electricity in the air... Anyway, fill me in! I was just looking through my new issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine, and there on page 69, is a cool black and red picture of Patty playing her CFox Sierra Concert model guitar. It says, "Play one and you'll understand why Patty Griffin and other cutting-edge singer-songwriters find such a strong musical partnership in their CFox guitars..." She's big time now! Who knows...maybe next, it'll be Nike..."Flaming Red" sneakers? :-) Check out my webpage! ~Patty~ http://pattyblee.cjb.net ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 04:25:06 GMT From: "Mary Abigail Ardini" Subject: Re: MM: Another Chicks review clip I don't think you can label Patty. She is the best of each type of music. Whenever people ask me what type of music Patty Griffin does I am at a loss for words.....I can only reply she is just Patty. Then I make them listen and add another fan for Patty ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V4 #189 *********************************
