I just checked the Interscope Records site.....looks like you are out of luck. In regards to those 8 "TBA" dates in late August on my site, the Interscope page shows her opening at the last four of them, from August 24th through the 27th. (although it does not say "With The Dixie Chicks", the dates, cities and venues all match Dixie Chicks shows. The site does not mention the Louisville show. :-( >also, has anyone noticed that the address given on the MM digest for the MM >site is wrong? pattty has 3 t's is in. ;) Wow! No one ever told me that before. I'll fix it now. During the show in SF, Patty mentioned two producers, one I can't remember and the other, Jay Joyce! I think based on Jay as producer, and the new material she presented that night that we will find the new CD in a similar vein to Flaming Red, perhaps relying less on studio musicians and relying more on members of her band. Griffin , who pleasingly sounds like Sheryl Crow , came on stage to sing a duet on "Let Him Fly" , a song Griffin wrote and the Chicks recorded. ~~ I rarely try to compare voices to determine who sounds like who , it would seem even more difficult with Patty , who has such a wide range of styles. But during my revew of Patty's shows on the cruise , I mentioned that I heard a voice that I thought could have been Patty's , & it took me a long time to decide that it was not , because most of the vocals were done in mid-range & Patty's voice seems to be most distinctive at the extremes. It turned out to be Bonnie Raitt. Thinking of the only song I know well by Bonnie , "Something to Talk About", Her voice seems to be closer to Patty's than anyone else I've noticed to date. Certainly more so than Sheryl's. I am glad to see that Patty's range continues to get it's due , as this reviewer had to touch upon 4 different genres to try to describe Patty's style. Well, I've heard all of the songs on the new CD except for 1, and I can tell you that the album will pretty much run the gamut as far as sounds go. You have Silver Bell which is a loud crunching rock song. Little God which is deep, dark sounding. Standing which Jen said reminds her of a gospel song. Perfect White Girls, which has a very, very bluesy guitar feel to it. So it will be even more varied (in my opinion) in sounds and style than FR was. As far as producers go.. Jay Joyce and Craig Ross are the producers. I was one of the lucky ones who got the promo CD from the contest, and I can tell you that I like the sound of the songs on this CD (mix and production-wise) much better than I like the bulk of the songs on Flaming Red. Each instrument is more easily recognizeable, and Patty's voice comes through clearly at all times on the 2 new songs. There seems to be much less over-dubbing of instruments.. there should be lots less controversy as far as .."was this song over-produced or not"? I can say that the song writing on this song is great.. quite possibly the strongest of Patty's career so far. I hate to compare CD's, because they will all give you a totally different feeling, but I would say from top to bottom, most of us here agree that LWG was a bit stronger. I don't know who the musicians are on the new CD, but it DOES sound like Patty's bass player Frank playing on Silver Bell. I can't tell on the guitar part.. and I'm not a drumming expert, but if I had to guess I would say it is Billy Beard playing drums. I think that's pretty cool b/c I really thought Patty's band did a great job on the last tour! Back to the producer thing for a moment. I don't know if each guy is producing separate tracks, or if they're working together on this thing or what. I really like what Jay Joyce did on most songs on FR, I just think there was too much going on some of the time, which distracted from the quality of the song. Anyway, that is all from me. Hope that helps!
