I planned a trip to my sister's house based on Patty's schedule. As Dana said, we found each other as I kept waving a HUGE bag of peanut M&Ms around. Don from Pittsburgh is a great guy too. My sister and I pulled up right in front of Slims to hear Patty's sound check (Blue Sky). We went to find flowers for Patty. I knocked on the tour bus door and Billy answered. I got to speak to everyone except Patty and the keyboard player whose name I forget. Frank seemed very surprised that 1) I was attending a patty show very far from home (NJ) and 2) that I knew everyone's name in the band. I referenced Forgiveness in a note that I asked Billy to give to Patty and she did play forgiveness solo which was NOT on the set list. It is always a pleasure to meet up with other MMers. Unfortunately, my sister didn't dig Patty so I offered to leave right after the encores. They need to be on this list 2. Don't just send me a name (unless it's all you know) - try an email address, a location, something that would help me recognize them or get in contact with them. 3. Don't vote for someone because they are your friend - vote for someone who's posts have helped you out in some way...I.e. they posted concert info that was relevant to you, you loved their review of a show, they hooked you up with some Patty bootlegs, they personally answered a question for you...something like this. I guess I was unclear because in the 10 responses I've gotten thus far only 3 people went about this the right way. I don't mean to be singling people out but these are some of the responces I got and these are not what I am looking for (please don't think I'm rude for posting these - I'm just trying to clarify what I am looking for): No - No's: > If it just needs to be in this email then (Person X) (Person X's email address) votes for me! - - I don't want you to tell me people that are voting for you - I want to know who you want to vote for. > DH would love the poster for his office! I don't know who DH is - an email address? a full name? (i'm guessing by the initials the vote may be for Don Henn?) > Robin- who has yet to hear Patty, and what better way to start her off... than with a free gift (email address here) These cds are rewards for outstanding members of the Pattyphile community - while I agree this cd would be a perfect starter for any fan I'm trying to hook up those long-time fans right now! Good Votes: > How about (name of list member with email address) - he is such a FANATIC for Patty and has shared tapes with many of us- myself included. I met him a couple of weeks ago over dinner in PA and he is really genuine and sweet. (it goes on...) Great! Even a reason - this is what I'm looking for :-) > phoenix (person's name.) Maybe this person doesn't know the email address of the person she listed but she gave a city so I at least can post for a person of that name that lives in the city. Ok - again, I didn't mean to piss anybody off by posting those - I'm just trying to communicate what I meant. If those of you who already submitted your ballot but filled in the voting part wrong would like to resubmit that would be really cool by me! I'm glad you are all geeked about this too! Thanks for the responces thus far! jen http://www-personal.engin.umich.edu/~jcaputo ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 04:10:45 -0400 From: Anne Corrigan Subject: MM: Patty So I can't remember whether I ever introduced myself and since Laura Taylor just did, I though I should just in case I hadn't. I would love to become an active member of discussion, not to mention I here a bunch of you are from the Central PA area, which rocks, because I am from Lancaster. I am 21, a senior at Gettysburg College here in PA, a Women's Studies major...I have done more than one project on women in music, the last of which I had to include a tape to give to the professors and I wrote about 2 Patty songs. She amazes me...I have a small page for her in my music section of my homepage..."Living with Ghosts" is the one CD I can never listen to enough and I NEVER get sick of, I can't say that about any other CD or artist. I have yet to see her live unfortunately, though I have tried a few times, first time she cancelled last minute because of jaw surgery after I drove 3 hours from Gettysburg on a weeknight with classes the next morning to see her...and then I found out about another show too late and so it was sold out, then I was so mad and so in a frenzy to hear Patty live after finding out about her via "Cain" on the Lilith CD that I asked my mother whether she'd drive with me to Michigan to see her for Lilith Fair last summer, well needless to say...since she was the only act there I wanted to see, mom didn't think that was such a great option. But oh yes...I WILL see her someday. I also would like to say that I am on many other mailing lists and this is by far the friendliest and most supportive one I have been on, wow...you rock. I was there at the Slim's show too and I just hadn't gotten around to doing my review yet.. I was very hot! I must have sweated off a gallon of water.. I ended up right in the front row, practically directly in front of Patty - it was great. Here are my corrections/comments to the set list, although it's mostly from my memory because I haven't done a set list from the, um, tape of the show.. << The set list reads (could be corrections, this is from the printed copy): Carry Me Perfect White Girl Tony Flaming Red Drivin' Boston Top of the World just Patty: Poor Man's House " : Forgiveness " : a Springsteen cover - I believe it's called Racing in the Streets then she also did One More Girl - which is an absolutely wonderful song - does anyone have lyrics?? Little God Change Blue Sky Making Pies Truth #2 then a special guest showed up, spotted in the audience earlier: Natalie Mayne from the Dixie Chicks Moses - which Natalie sang the second verse, and it was wonderful... this one was NOT on the set list so I was very happy they did it.. last time Patty was in SF she didn't sing it and I was bummed :( Mary - w/ Natalie on bg vocals <<(this is where I get fuzzy. Guess the heat got to me. The set list has more songs on it, a few options for the encore, but I *think* it was Silver Bell and then finished with a cover called Tomorrow Night, that she mentioned was covered by Bob Dylan, but she couldn't remember the original artist...)>>> I am fuzzy too on this since I haven't listened to the rest of the tape yet, but there was a very loud new song she did here.. the set list says Goodbye so I'm assuming that's it. Then she did Silver Bell and Tomorrow Night, which was absolutely gorgeous... anyway, it was wonderful :) I thought the sound was a little off though; the band was very loud and occasionally drowned out Patty's vocals... it could've just been cause I was so close to the stage, but I really would've liked Patty's mic turned up some more.. I was also a little annoyed with the crowd (it was sold out so that was really cool but) there was some guy in the crowd that kept yelling things to Patty.. I don't mind an occasional request, cause I'm guilty of that too :P but lots of yellling really drives me nuts and it seems a little rude.. anyway, it totally rocked :) and if anyone is interested in a copy of the tape, e-mail me and we can set up a trade. (I don't sell the tapes, so nobody freak out..Patty live is a great thing) :) Lisa - --part1_34.6990ff2.267ba8ce_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 16:00:00 EDT From: EveryLittleBit@aol.com Subject: MM: lyrics to Boston & One More Girl People have been posting asking about the lyrics to these songs, so here you go... as a side note, One More Girl is a very old Patty song, while Boston is a more recent addition and was recorded at Sessions at West 54th, but not aired.
