I was so happy to have my 2 best fave singers at the same concert! That is great that he is promoting her to his audience- there are so many others he could choose. Williams (from www.dumbest.com): Wendy O. Williams fronted what is arguably the worst rock & roll band ever formed - The Plasmatics. A sex industry impresario known as Captain Kink plucked Williams from a live-sex act to lead the punk/metal band in 1978. The Plasmatics built their show around staged chaos - and very little music. Though the Plasmatics were peaking in 1979, Wendy had time to star in a porno flick, Candy Goes to Hollywood! In the film, Wendy revealed herself to be a fan of ping-pong - balls. On April 6, 1998 in Storrs, Connecticut, Wendy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Some role model you chose there Paul, you nitwit. If you want to claim she was a Performance Artist, fine but don't even try to claim she was a musician. If you think that displays of violence, raw sex and nudity make Wendy "more of a woman" than any other performer, you should spend time volunteering for a rape counselor. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Jun 2000 11:27:27 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: Track list for Patty's new album & other schtuff :-) Rich posted: >And oh yeah, PATTY NEWS: >The new album is slated for September 2000 release. It will be called >"Silverbell." The cover art (for now) shows Patty sitting on the edge of >one of those "above ground" swimming pools, wearing a floral sundress >and looking a bit sad. Once I get my scanner fixed I can download a >picture to anyone who wants to post it on their site... just let me >know... I contacted Patty's management to verify what I could, and most of the above is indeed correct! :-) (new CD in a few months!!! :-) The artwork he mentions however is not necessarily even being considered, as I was told "the artwork has not been done yet so no one knows what the cover will look like". As for that shot with Patty on the edge of the swimming pool, that WAS taken by a photographer named Sam Jones during an L.A. photo shoot of "old funky motels", as they put it. (i.e. fitting in with the subject of "Silver Bell"). The swimming pool shot is being used by Interscope on a postcard that is being handed out at the Dixie Chicks shows and was sent out to some industry and retail folks. (I forgot....did Rich eventually post a URL with a scan of that photo?) As Rich said, the album is now scheduled for a September release, although no exact date has been set as of yet. At this time, it looks like the final sequence for the album will be the following songs: Little God Boston Perfect White Girls Truth #2 What You Are Silver Bell Driving Sooner Or Later Top Of The World Sorry And Sad Making Pies Mother Of God One More Girl Standing They also sent this disclaimer. "Naturally, the disclaimer is, as always, all this can change but its the truth for now" As for the Dixie Chicks tour they say "the Chicks dates are going great and Patty is being well received by their crowds. all seem well and happy. We have a new keyboard player on this tour. His name is Michael Ramos and he is from Austin. John Deaderick, who worked with Patty last year and played on the record is now working with the Dixie Chicks so we all still get to hang out with him." They are also looking into the possibility of Patty touring some with Emmylou Harris in the fall, but that is all in the prelim stages right now. Little God is confirmed!! I don't know what to say, other than September CAN NOT come soon enough. Ever since the first time I heard Patty play this song, I have been dying to hear it on a CD! That just made my day! It also looks like that song Don and I had described as "driving" being in it IS actually called Driving. Good stuff... I can say that I've heard all but 2 or 3 of the songs on the CD, and they're all wonderful. I'm very happy that One More Girl and Silver Bell will FINALLY make it on a new CD. I guess maybe there is a slight chance of We Are Water or Nobody's Crying making it someday.. but I won't hold my breath. I don't want to say that Flaming Red was a sophomore slump or anything like that, because I really do love it. However I know that most of the list member's feelings are that LWG is a little stronger from top to bottom as far as songs/songwriting goes. The songs on the next CD (the ones that I've heard) are all up there on par with LWG, and the greatest songs on FR.. in my opinion of course. Wow, thanks for the info Mike! Once again, you just made my day! I actually like everyone on this list, including Gary and John and Kat. They add a little life. Gary, thanks for the support. You never fail to surprise me....never. Before I opened the posting from you I figured I was going to get my head ripped apart. And thanks to the others that sent supportive emails my way. I usually just give my opinion and let "attacking" comments slide by. But this week I've got the flu and I bite back. GRRR. LOL cough cough It's always good to get a little pissed sometimes. Not that what I say is ever meaningful...John says ahm not a smart mayan, jenn-ay...but I'm just doing the opinion thing, that's all. Wait a minute. Actually I don't let a lot slide by, do I? Okay, I'm a dick. I'll admit it. But being a sick dick today just takes the cake. I'm almost off work and I'm getting that thera-flu on the way home. Then three shots of Jagermeister ought to finish the job. I still haven't changed my mind about Ms. Williams or her talented Plasmatics. And I'm glad someone ELSE likes GWAR on this list. You da man, John. **********anyway, back to PG*************** I concur with Dave. "We are Water" is such a rockin song, it's a sad day in my heart when it doesn't make the cut. But "Silver Bell" and "Little God" more than make up for it. Ms. Griffin will be with the Dixie Chicks in Birmingham. That's as close as she's coming to me. Although, I might be tempted to drive to LSU (Baton Rouge)instead because I think she's there too. And I'd party better with the students than with the...well....country people. gotta go throw up now. HMMMMM. I think I'll do it here at work instead of at home....that way I don't have to clean up if things get out of hand (or out of toilet). peace out, paul ********************************* * Music is a higher revelation * * than philosophy. * * --Ludwig van Beethoven * ********************************* ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V4 #164 *********************************
