I just went over to Philly last night to see David Gray in a small club. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT miss this guy when he comes to your area. My wife and I go to small clubs often to see live music. This guy is one of the best I have ever heard. Trust me on this one. The best part is I get to see him again today at the Apple Fest in South Jersey. Along with Martin Sexton, Richard Thompson and a bunch of other great acts. Too many to list. It's great living in the Philadelphia area. Performers love to play around here. Thanks to the greatest radio station in the country, WXPN 88.5 (www.xpn.org to listen live), we get to hear them first. By the way, David Gray's CD is White Ladder, I believe it is the first CD released in the U.S. by Dave Mattews' new record label. Hey don't cry to me if you have to see this guy in a huge arena two years from now, opening for the Dixie Chicks.LOL Have a great weekend everyone. So, Evil Gary, you may not even want to bother reading this!! :) > My sister (from Bismarck, ND) and I (From Fargo, ND) went to Winnipeg on Thursday to see Patty and the Dixie Chicks. They are coming to Fargo but Patty is not coming with them so we went to her. It was amazing! Patty was incredible. She looked and sounded great. > This is her set list: > Dirty White Girls (I think that's the name of a song some of you have mentioned before) > I don't have a clue what the 2nd song was > Goodbye > Little God > Silver Bell > Top of the World > Swing Me > Mary > > that alone was worth the 3+ hour drive! but the Dixie Chicks were also amazing. I saw them at Lilith Fair last year and went with every intention of not liking them or jumping on THAT bandwagon (i know, how very open-minded of me!) I couldn't leave the city without purchasing their music! They are an excellent live show. I'm not all that in to blue grass music but I could listen to them play all night! > They have great stage presence, they're talented, they look good and they sound great. I remember Dave saying something about listening to Natalie's voice all night long and I sometimes feel that way listening to the CD but she's very good live. AND the very best thing they did was to bring Patty out to sing "Let Him Fly" with them. She was again amazing. They also praised her song writing another time during the night. > Patty seemed to have a lot of fans there. Were there any other Mad-mishers there besides Don? > > Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that it was a great show and the Dixie Chicks are worth seeing even if Patty doesn't open for them but she, of course, made the whole show for us! Go see them -- don't miss this chance to see Patty even if you don't like the Chicks. You may be pleasantly surprised! Thanks for listening. > Ronni > > > > --- Ronni Heggen > --- rawkneelea@earthlink.net > --- EarthLink: It's your Internet. - --- Ronni Heggen - --- rawkneelea@earthlink.net - --- EarthLink: It's your Internet. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Jun 2000 22:40:25 EDT From: Lisa071573@aol.com Subject: Re: PattyG-News: MM: Correction on SF show date Tix for the SF show are already on sale at ticketweb.com :) anyone going want to meet up before the show? actually, it's a Wednesday so I probably won't make it into the city until 7ish.. hmmmm... :) Lisa ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V4 #154 *********************************
