Hey there MM-ers! I saw Buddy & Julie Miller tonight in Nashville... They put on an AMAZING show!! If they come to your area, do not miss the show! :) For the first encore, Julie was having a laughing fit (she had bought 200 toothbrushes with names printed on them from this store that was going out of business, and she had this huge bag... She was yelling out names and if the toothbrush had your name, whadda ya know, you got a free toothbrush, LOL!)... And so, she was having a hard time getting into the groove for "I Still Cry," the song Patty sings backup on. When she finally got around to singing it, she said, "Patty Griffin sings with me on my new album..." and before she could finish the sentence, the audience was hooting and hollering! Yay Patty, everyone loves you! Julie went on to praise Patty as "the real thing" and "a real treasure" and she told everyone to see her next time she was in town. So, yay, Patty got some publicity... the house was *packed* tonight. And again... if you don't have it, get Julie Miller's new album "Broken Things"!! It's awesome! :) Smiles, Misty P.S. Cristina, this is why I missed Cine-club! :) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Apr 2000 23:29:46 -0700 (PDT) From: Johnny U Subject: Re: MM: Patty is a "real treasure"! - --- MistyBC@aol.com wrote: > Hey there MM-ers! > > I saw Buddy & Julie Miller tonight in Nashville... > she was having a > hard time getting into the groove for "I Still Cry," > the song Patty sings backup on. Coincedently, in the same night in Ann Arbor, Patty was asked to sing "I Still Cry". And while the cheers were lighter, Patty replied that it was "Julie's song" and she couldn't do that, but told the audience to go out and buy "anything Julie and Buddie Miller that they could find." She spoke really highly of them for a few minutes before getting back to the set. What a weird coincedence! :-) John ===== "I joined a health club last year, spent $400 and didn't lose a pound! Can I just say - absolutely f*cking amazing!!!!!! :) :) :) She is so beautiful in sooo many ways! ahhhh.....there is just too much to say...... I took "notes" so i got the setlists! (i'll post at the end). Patty was just too cute with her pig-tails and her brown boot-cut pants with these cool embroidered flowers on the front shin area and her long black coat. :) It was just her and her guitar all night...oh with the exception of a couple piano tunes too!! :) She was pretty talkative in both shows actually and told us a bunch of cute little stories about different songs. She said the new album should be out in the fall. EEP - during the second show i managed to get to the front row and at one point everyone started shouting out requests (same time that guy asked for "I Still Cry") i said "You Decided" and she sort of bent down and asked "what?" and i repeated it and she just shook her head kind of in disbelief that people knew some of these rare songs...hee hee. It was amazing! Someone asked for "Nobody's Crying" which would have been AMAZING...but she said she couldn't because she didn't have the right guitar and playing it on the one she had would break strings..hee hee. I met some of you awesome mad-mishers... Jen, Dave, Don, Sonja & Kathy...anyone else, i missed - but i did have my M&M's out!! :) After the show we waited around and she came out - YAY! She was way cool.... My friend got his cd signed and when he told her he has two exams tomorrow but had to come out to see her anyways she said to him "You're my kind of guy!" and then signed his cd "Steve - Good luck on your exams. (that means you, jen! hee hee) See you all there! :) Sarah ********************************************************** And the night and I go hand to hand Breast to breast Woman to woman Night and I go quietly We go softly Screaming all the way -- Patty Griffin ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2000 11:50:43 -0400 From: "Jennifer Lynn Caputo" Subject: MM: the ark I think Sarah summed it up when she said: > O > Mi > Goddess!!!! > Can I just say - absolutely f*cking amazing!!!!!! :) :) :) Patty was absoltely radiant last night. I have never seen her in such good spirits or singing so beautifully. During the first show she asked "So how's Ann Arbor doing?" And i said "We have finals!" so we had a little chat about finals - i was so geeked that she talked to me during the show... Anyway, after a little convincing Sonja and Kathy decided to stay for the second show and I don't think it took much convincing for Sarah to run down and get a ticket for the next show either. Dave, Don, and I got back in line and I could not stand still! I was dancing all over the place I was so excited! After listenting to the delightful Sons of the Never Wrong again Patty took the stage once more. She probably played an additional 20 minutes from the first show. In my most polite voice I said "Please play nobody's crying" but she didn't have the right guitar with her :-( The only thing that would have made the night more perfect would have been if she had played that song... Anyway, after the second show (which let out around 12:05) a lot of the MM's were sticking around (Sarah, Sonja, Kathy, John Utrup). I was convinced that she wasn't coming out and was trying to convince Dave and Don that it wasn't gonna happen when all of a sudden I look over and who is standing on the stage???? Oh yes....Ms. Patty G! She was soooo sweet. The previous times I have met her she has seemed really shy, or tired but tonight she was glowing and chatty and perfect! We took some pics with her and told her we were going to see her on Friday also. I'm also extremely greatful to have met you wonderful MMers! Sarah and Sonja and Kathy were all so sweet! John, i didn't meet you till we were leaving - where did you drive from? That was pretty funny when Patty was asking you about the M & M's (why does everyone have those???) Are you going to the GR show too?? And of course finally getting to meet the (in)famous Dave and Don was a treat in itself! hehehe What time are those of you going to GR planning on getting there? Anyone think it'll be possible for some dinner before the show? Wow - I am still on such a high right now. The night was so very perfect. I brought a different friend to each of the shows who had never listened to Patty before and they both fell in love. My best girly, Janine, even begged Don to get her a video! Pretty impressive our Patty is! Ok....all I need to do is stay awake for one more class and then my physics exam tonight! I'm so tired but it was so worth it! Just wondering if anyone happened to have gotten a recording of either or both of the shows at the Ark last night??? I thought at the last minute about asking my friend if I could borrow his mini-disc recorder but I don't really know how to work it and didn't want to risk getting it confiscated and all that...blah...but now i REALLY REALLY want a copy of those shows! If anyone got it recorded could we set up some sort of deal? i've got some really good live cd's of patty (thanks to jen!)
