She's been around a long while but people are now catching on because she is receiving far more promotion now because she signed a US record deal (w/ Capital)... Anyway, the new album is already out in Canada and will be out here the 29th. She has an earlier album out which is stunningly beautiful and sad, but she has developed so much since then... The new album is okay, very produced... Anyway, she opened for Patty a long time ago too in Vancouver...awesome show. I got to party w/ the band at tara's place afterwards... I came to this list from the EDA's. I have been a member of them for close to two years now. One day I was talking to Mike and he mentioned Patty to me, so I went out and bought the CD. Aimee did write 9 of the songs on the soundtrack and the other 3 are older songs (at least the two Supertramp ones are....not sure about the third one). I highly recommend picking it up....even if you've never heard Aimee Mann's other stuff. I was in the bathroom over the weekend putting on a pair of pants, when the infamous Blue Sky commercial came on the television. I'm like.. ehh?? Patty on TV? So... for fear that I would miss an actual appearance by Patty on the television, I bolted out of the bathroom with my pants around my ankles (trust me, this was probably not very attractive), and ran down the hallway, through the kitchen and into the room where I could see the TV.. As you know, it ended up being ONLY this commercial, but I was not the least bit disappointed. There I stood, pantless... watching in utter amazement as that INCREDIBLE woman who I've come to love so much singing on a national television commercial. The very same woman who I first saw 4 years ago playing for about 5 people in the audience. Wow! I guess after Letterman, Conan, Kilborn, and Sessions, I will still never get over the sight of seeing or hearing Patty on TV! Enough out of me..
