Yeah, blue sky is great. I took a road trip this past summer and played that really loud on the less than wonderful u-haul sound system. I was singin' along with the windows rolled all the way down, and the nice highway air blowin' in. That was fun :) So I have been craving some new patty music, especially after hearing all of these song titles lately that I've never heard of. I only have LWG and flaming red. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making me a tape of the 'rarities' thing everyone keeps bringing up, or of any live stuff. I would even send you the blank tape. The End is near! Y2K. The end is near! yo yo, what up. Okay, I know that this has already been talked about, but to tell you the truth, I was kinda casually reading posts...and even ignoring many important topics. One topic that was talked about included the movie "Digging to China". Well, that just blew by me and I wasn't thinking. So, the other day I'm flipping through the plethora of movie channels because I figure I should watch TV at least once in a while. I've got digital cable (not to sound like Thurston Howle the third or anything) and get the info on the movie before I watch it (like satellite). So, I'm skimming through all these movies and came across "Digging to China" and it showed Mary Stewart Masterson as a character, as well as Kevin Bacon. I'm like "max cool. I've gotta see Mary. And hey, Kevin's in it too." So I flip over to it. I'm watching and then all of a sudden those extremely familiar chords start strumming. I'm scratching my head like, "hey, that sounds an awful lot like "one big love."" Then I'm like, "hey, it IS "one big love." how cool is that?" Then after the movie I vaguely remembered it was already discussed on this list and I'm really a moron. But I thought it kicked ass, though. Major. ****************harmonies in G************ Well anyway, to sing harmony you sing any note you want that produces the harmony you want. It's really like playing a piano, only with your throat. (no, not playing a piano using your throat...I mean using your voice chords instead of using the piano strings). Paul now gives an example... Let's say you were in the Key of C major. Someone is singing a G for the main part, why not sing an E or G to fill it out? I don't know, because I'd rather sing an A...why do you ask? Well, just curious, that's all. So, you dig? I'm screwy. Gotta go funk up the bass. peace love and vegetable rights. paul *************************************************** * No, Ed. That's no way to die. If this group had a say in it you may not want me to sing anything :-) ... but in a perfect (-ly pitched) world, I would have to go with "Poor Man's House" too. This song moves me every time I hear it; and I never tire of hearing it. It's easily my favorite Patty song. I'm trying to get my cousin - who's a fantastic singer - to learn it. She would certainly do it more justice than I. If anyone has seen Patty perform this song live I'm sure you were as amazed as I was. She left me limp in my chair when I saw her perform it at The Fez in NYC last April. Can't wait for "Sessions" and the new album! Happy New Year, everyone!
