I quite like Fiona. I've enjoyed watching her confidence as a live performer grow. She clearly had a lot of help in the studio but she is talented well beyond her years. I thought her cover of the Lennon song "Across the Universe" was fantastic because it was understated in the spirit of the original with no evidence of her straining to "add value." She also spiced up Foxy Brown's last record, but I suspect few people here have heard it. I plan to buy Fiona's new record. >From: John Utrup >To: mad-mission@smoe.org >Subject: MM: (NPC) Fiona Apple's new album title >Date: Wed, 20 Oct 1999 22:22:36 -0700 (PDT) > > > > This is kinda interesting... > > I have the title of Fiona Apple's new album. But, some of my friends got to see Emmylou and Linda Ronstadt in Austin and here is what they said: "April and I got to go see Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. They recorded an album together, recently, and it has a Patty Griffin song on it. Emmylou really went out of her way to talk about Patty's music before they sang it and to lavish praise on her. I thought you'd be proud. They said she was there; April and I were hoping she'd go sing with them, but no dice." Woohoo, more Patty converts as the days go on. If any of you Austinites come across a listing of Patty playing at little coffee houses under different names or whatnot (like when she did her little cover gig as Ruby Maroon), please do let me know. Also, has anyone seen this Mystery, Alaska movie? I thought there was supposed to be a Patty tune in it? Either I am crazy or it flat out wasn't there. Also, has anyone picked up the Anywhere But Here soundtrack? I am wondering how the song is?? Heather __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I understand that there are some promo copies floating around used cd stores, however. Julie "His health has been frail, but he pulled everything together mentally and physically to be there for us.
