Go. Have Fun. I can't take it anymore!!! Please, please stop twisting the knife you guys! I can't go to the Patty thang because I'm leaving for Florida Saturday morning on my vacation. If I could change my departure date, believe me, I would. I live just a short train ride away (near Albany, NY). I'd feel lots better if no one got tickets. I hate being left out! Now that I got the selfish stuff out of my system, I want you all to know that I'm psyched for you. It does my heart good to see a performer be surrounded by such dedicated fans, you guys deserve first pick of the seats! Have tons of fun, and tell us whiners who couldn't make it all about it. I'll be with you in spirit. Dinner afterward would definitely be better. McSorley's bar is way far away from 54th & 10th, and not worth going to all that trouble for. Plus it's TINY. I know a great cheap restaurant on 51st & 10th, but it's also small, so depending on how many we are, we may not fit in. Otherwise, there are a ton of great, cheap, ethnic restaurants on 9th Avenue (1 block away for you non-NY'ers). If you want, I could do some research. As for hotels, this may seem a little odd, but on another website, vip.ie (Irish), one of their bulletin boards was vip.gettogether. A guy was planning a get together in NY in May, & did a whole, detailed list of hotels, descriptions, prices, everything (you had to click on his name on the posting - Charlie). Of course, no one showed up, but maybe it's still there. If not, maybe I can email him & get the info. Finally, I think we should all be carrying a pack of M&M's to recognize each other. Some of the front desk people can be a tad difficult, but overall, it's worth the money. The number there is 1-800-255-0482 (www.habitat-ny.com) There's also the Hotel Chelsea (where Sid and Nancy, and a host of other artists and writers have stayed throughout hiostory) It's a cool place, but I think the rooms run about $160 or so. I would be happy to offer you a place to crash in my one bedroom apartment (choice of very cozy couch or cozy futon) as long as you don't mind three cats. It is a very nice, clean apartment if you don't mind the critters. For those of you out-of-towners, this could save you quite a bit of $. If you are not an out-of-towner, and you have an extra ticket, please let me know as well! On the most part *I think* sessions airs at midnights on Saturday nites which is 12am on sunday mornings.... but it can vary from station to station. Not all PBS affiliates carry all PBS-made programs. If your local station is having an extended pledge drive, it might change their schedule, too. I dont think there will be an exact--specific date and time that it will universally air everywhere, so i think you are going to have to check with your local PBS station sometime in the future, but certainly not any time soon. I do know that the season she is taping in right now is for NEXT season, not this one which is airing now. Depending on when they uplink, i would guess that it would start sometime in the early spring of 2000. I also know that there are 13 episodes in a season, and you can track when it might air once we know what the episode and season number are. We'll find that out when we get there if Mike (ducksoup) doesnt already have that info. You could track it by episode number. It was around $150 a night which isn't too bad for a hotel right in the heart of everything. You walk out and you are there right by MTV and all the lights, etc... Plus that isn't too far from 54th. Here is the phone number to call. The place isn't too bad--like a Holiday Inn: The Edison: 840-5000 There isn't a 1-800 number listed for that place, sorry. I am guessing it is a (212) call but there is a new area code for us newcomers to NYC and we have to dial 212 for everything because we are a (646) area code here in the village. I have people who live in the same building who we have to dial a long distance code for. No extra charge though. I think Dave, Christina, and I might meet at Grand Central Station some time before noon on Saturday if anyone else is interested. You can e-mail me privately and we will work out an exact location.
