Subject: MM: Patty rocks the 9:30 club in Washington D.C.!!

Hi guys!

I just got back from seeing Patty perform at a really cool club in DC.  
Tonight, the mix was nearly perfect for once, and Patty was a ROCKIN' Baby!!  

She was in such a good mood, she opened the set on Big Daddy...other songs 
that I can remember were...Blue Sky, Silver Bell, Wiggley Fingers, Change, 
Tony, Goodbye, Flaming Red, Christina, One More Girl, Let Him Fly, You Never 
Get What You Want, Moses, Little God, Breaking Up Somebody's Home, Sweet 
Lorraine, and Mary.  I think I actually got every single song there....

Little God was even better than usual tonight.  John (keyboards) has added 
some new parts to the song, or maybe it was just that you could hear those 
parts better tonight.  Either way, the song ROCKS.  It better be on the new 
CD that's all I have to say.  

One More Girl, You Never Get What You Want, Moses, and Sweet Lorraine were 
solo of course, and Let Him Fly was played with Doug playing an electric, and 
Patty singing....it was a very nice new version to the song in my opinion.  

Silver Bell just rocked the house, I had heard from someone on the list that 
she played it last week somewhere, and I was hoping that she would play it 
tonight.... who says you never get what you want??  ....sorry, I just had to 
say it.  

Mary was even more beautiful than usual tonight, as was Moses.  I had never 
heard You Never Get What You Want played live before, so that was also a 
highlight!  God, what can I say??  Patty was so incredible tonight it was 
SCARY. 

She started Flaming Red solo, and about 1/2 speed all the way through the 1st 
chorus.  As the next verse started, then the band kicked in!  VERY VERY nice 
move.  I loved this one live before, but now it takes on a whole new 
personality.   I think everyone in attendance liked this very much as well.

Breaking Up also was one of the crowd favorites.  She played it during the 
encore, it was her last song of the night as the matter of fact.  I don't 
think anyone would ever believe that this song is NOT hers by the way she 
makes it sound her own.  If any of you have not heard her sing this one 
yet...YOWSERS is all I have to say!  This song alone could be well worth your 
trip to a Patty show.

I know everyone always complains about the band being too loud, but when the 
sound man has the mix right, they are outstanding!  I can't say that any of 
the band members are anything but wonderful.  

Oh yeah, before I forget...Patty looked STUNNING this evening.  She was 
wearing a dark blue flowered, very summery looking dress.  She was wearing 
these platform like sandals (sorry for the poor description ladies..this is a 
guy here).  I can't remember her ever looking so beautiful on stage!  Along 
with being in such a good mood and her looking so good, you could not help 
but smile just looking at her.

Alrighty, well there is my little review.  It was another semi-long trip well 
worth while to see The Almighty Patty Jean.  :-)  My birthday is on 
Wednesday, how cool of a birthday present was that??  

Now it's precisely 5:28am, and it's time for David to head off to bed to get 
all rested up for the 4th of July festivities tomorrow.

Hello fellow mad missioners!
   I just got back from a weekend in Houston where I visited my family. The
reason I'm posting about this is because I had Patty's music with me the
whole flight down. See, I'm an aerophobe and I've always wanted to listen to
"Blue Sky" while actually flying through the blue sky because I felt that it
would help me and give me the courage to look out the window. I must say
that her music helped me through what could have been a (psychologically)
terrifying hour and 45 minutes and I ended up having a blast. Gosh, our sky
is so amazingly beautiful. I even saw a rainbow! I think I actually may have
conquered my fear, but I will definitely keep Patty's music with me
throughout the next few flights home as I slowly overcome this monster that
I've let fester for the last two years.
             Happy Fourth (even though our "DOI" is horribly sexist and
racist),
