I've been a Patty fan for a couple of years now, heard "Let Him Fly" on a Lilith tape they passed out at Lilith Fair in...97, I think, and bought the CD that same night. :) Patty also played Lilith in Indy (where I was living) that year, but I wanted to see Tara MacLean at Borders instead. :) Anyway! I live in NJ/NYC, I'm a singer-songwriter as well, and my favorites besides Patty are Tara MacLean, Emm Gryner, Sarah Slean, Radiohead, Beth Orton, etc., etc. I've seen Patty twice, once when Tara opened for her in Vancouver, and once at the Vogue in Indpls. Both amazing show. I'm curious about Jay Joyce's band (I would **love** to have him produce my next CD ;) not a chance, but I can dream:), Iodine, and how I can get their CD... anyone? They were incredible... One last thing, I am looking for Patty boots, specifically one that a friend had, it was a bunch of really early demos from Flaming Red as well as some other stuff... it was such a good tape... that or recent live shows (good quality). I have tons to trade, everything from every Sarah McLachlan boot imaginable, to Tara MacLean, Emm, etc. Please e-mail me if you're interested. :) pax jessica CD info: http://www.cdbaby.com/buy/weiser.htm http://adam.nettfriends.com/Jess ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 10:02:28 -0500 From: Dana Mitkowski Subject: MM: Patty at Northampton this Sat 7p Yes- who is going from around New England? I am meeting Elaine and her daughter, Jackie and also Jeanne from the list- lurkers lately- what can we do to find each other? We could identify ourselves at the desk on checkin and ask them to let any MMer's know where we are sitting. Or make a MM note to wear or put on out tables. It is hard to choose where to sit as they go by size of the party. Singles could get together tho and sit together as Rachel, Kevin and I did last time when was singing there. I would love for us all to be able to spend the concert together- at least at nearby tables. It will help if we know who we are looking for. It opens at 5:30 PM- there may be tickets left- 1-800-the-tick if anyone still wants to try to go. A week ago it was not sold out yet- I don't know about now. They said they were not selling that well, so there was only going to be one show. This is a great venue to see someone- an old place where lots of wonderful singers have been before- there are no far away seats- altho it is crowded- everyone is close compared to a big theatre- you can actually see the singer's face in a place like this. It is pretty easy to find- off the thruway - parking is next door at the bank- a small town - great place to spend the day if you can come early for the afternoon and walk around. I have to work, so I will not get there until maybe 5:30 at the earliest to meet Elaine and Jeanne. Hope to meet some of you there!!! I don't know the man, but I know some of the people he does work for and, knowing those folks, I find it hard to believe they would deal with a webpirate (like the guy who sold Steve Forbes rights to forbes2000 for $6200) Check out Webprimatives site at http://www.webprimitives.com And you'll find lots of s/s represented, as well as the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and Folkmusic.org. Compare their music listings to their big-wig sites. I think you might get some read on who these folks are. DISCLAIMER: I do not know anyone at webpimitives personally and have no financial or other affiliation with them whatsoever. I have tried to convince artists I work with that the most important thing they can do is register their name. You wouldn't believe how hard that is to do when working with managers who have no clue as to the power of the internet, the new American culture.
