I just received word from her management that Patty has been booked for two major late-night network talk shows :-) On Friday May 7th, she will appear on the Conan O'Brien show on NBC television. This show follows the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in most areas (12:35am EST). Of course check your local listings for your area/timezone. Also, on Tuesday June 15th she will be on The David Letterman Show on CBS television, which is on at 11:35pm in the EST time zone. In other news, her musical contribution (Twisted Road) for the Susan Sarandon film "Anywhere But Here" is complete and they are just waiting for a decision from "the powers that be" as to whether or not it will actually be in the film and on the soundtrack CD. Her management did not have any information as to a potential release date for the CD (didn't someone post they read April 27th??). Looking forward to FINALLY having some VIDEO of Patty singing, Mike :-) - - * The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/pattyg/pattyg.htm * * Rachel Martin's Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive is at * http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/3079/patty.html * * Jerry Zigmont's Flaming Red - A Patty Griffin Website is at * http://members.tripod.com/PattyGriffin * * Katie Peterson's Patty Griffin Guitar Tabs Archive is at * http://members.tripod.com/~Lifey/patty.html * * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 on AOL and/or AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Apr 1999 12:03:41 EDT From: Rudgetty@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Conversation Pieces I, without a doubt, feel like if she came on either of those shows, blaring Flaming Red, strumming crazily on her guitar, waving her *real* fiery hair, with all of those passions that we all have seen and love.....she would be the next Elvis. (Well, I didn't mean to compare her to him, because some might not hold him in the highest regard..but I think yyou got my gist!) - -lil' Kate ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Apr 1999 13:27:46 EDT From: UMCaner74@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Conversation Pieces Favorite Flaming Red song...hmm..I can't really choose just one I don't think. If I'm in the mood to rock it's Tony OR Wiggley Fingers. As far as Live..Mary brings tears to my eyes everytime she sings it, it's so beautiful..there's just nothing like Mary in concert. Doug is doing these cool volume swells with that wicked cool reverb/echo thing..and Patty's voice is just simply breathtaking..of course... Hi all, I just read the post about the conversation with Patty's new management and I'm fuming. I have been a pro singer/songwriter for six years and if I had a manager who talked to my "fans" (not that I have many :)) that way, I'd fire him quick. It's not that she can't do the concert that bothers me. (I doubt she has even been told about our idea and the lengths to which we would go to see her!) I know about strategic planning but, it was the disrespectful nature of the dialogue - "It's not going to happen!" and "it was weird reading it on the internet" To patty's manager: May I remind you SIR, the internet is a communication tool, only the people on the mad mission list are sent the e-mails, AND I live in Canada. Without the communication amoung myself and other members of the list, I wouldn't have had a CHANCE to see your precious moneymaker!!! (sorry MM'ers, I'm really mad and having had managers, I know the atttitude - I'm NOT slamming Patty) nor would I know anything about the progress of her career. THANK YOU FOR RUINING MY DAY!!!!! Arggggggggggh.... Anyway, sorry again! I had to get that off my chest! 'k totally unrelated question...does anybody know when pattygriffin.com will be up? === "Every tool is a weapon if you hold it right!" Like that might have some negative PR implications. >> All l have to say to that is BS!! This August l found out that Patty was playing a private function here in MN. l tried endlessly to find a connection to get me in but it was to no avail. l think that if Patty were to play a private concert for all of her fans, it would show others how amazing she is. Not only as a singer but as a person. It would show that she truly appreciates her fans, and her fans love her. I'm sure if anything was published the only thought the readers would be thinking is "Wow if her fans went to all of the trouble to see her play she must be worth checking out." So, to her manager l say it's nice to see where your priorities are. Screw the fans and get the fame and bucks! PUTZ!
