I have been thinking for days and days about how I can capture a Patty concert into words, and let everyone see the emotions that fly, the heart that races, and just picture that lil' redhed doing her thing. After many sleepless nights, many concert reviews lost to the trash can, and countless blank pages, I have realized that it is damn near impossible to describe Patty in words, or even her concerts, for that matter. It's like the Grand Canyon. (Weird that I am comparing Patty to a big hole in the ground, but...), you can hear stories, descriptive detailed stories, about this and that, about the monstrous canyon, you can even see pictures, but you wont get the full impact of the Canyon until you are there, gazing at the miles of depth and rock forms everywhere. Then, and only then, can you truly "get it", am I right? That's what is wrong with the picture. I saw Patty about two weeks ago, and I am still stuck, trying to write the impossible review. Good thing I didn't have a deadline on this one, eh? Until then- Kate ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Nov 1998 00:52:05 EST From: JohnRN24@aol.com Subject: MM: this is actually Patty related :-) Okay, I'll keep it short... I sing, sway and close my eyes. It's my appreciation for what she is saying and my way of reliving how and what I was feeling when I first UNDERSTOOD what each song was saying to me. I don't sing over her, and I don't stand until everybody else does. :-) John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Nov 1998 00:54:02 EST From: JohnRN24@aol.com Subject: MM: Patty / Iodine Saw Iodine open for Patty in Pontiac MI, liked "Monkey Disease" and "Liar". Went out and bought the album. Liked the album. Just a taste of something different, and I can control the volume at home. Sending messages of love! :-) John ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V2 #351 *********************************
