List members Mimi, Joshua, Steve, Ronda, and myself attended the instore, later had dinner together, and of course went to the show later. I got my cd covers signed and Josh got her to sign his 12 twelve string! Go Josh! It was good to meet everyone.' I might be a generational thing, but I must say that to these 40 yr old ears Iodine was just loud. Kinda like how after awhile Thai food is just HOT, Iodine was just LOUD. The friend I saw the show with (a woman my age) said "It must be a testosterone thing." Seriously, Jay Joyce is a good guitarist, and on some of the instrumental stuff, it was fairly melodic. As soon as he opened his mouth he lost me. Even with TP stuffed in my ears (I forgot my earplugs), my ears had closed up alot to save themselves. At times even during Patty, I did feel the band got slightly too loud, but not to a great degree. I was too happy seeing Patty for the 1st time to really care. She was amazing. I agree with the poster who said that perahps Patty is really much more of a rocker and that LWG might be the aberration. She seemed to be having a great time with her band, and sang Iodine and the 1st opener Herbert Jones' praises. His stuff reminded me slightly of Chris Isaak, but without the great voice. Inoffensive, but pretty forgettable IMHO. I know I've karped alot, so don't let me give the impression I didn't enjoy the show. Seeing her and hearing that amazing voice was great, and thanks to Joshua and Ronda for all the work in getting us together. Now I just hope the pictures from the instore came out. :) Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Nov 1998 10:07:30 -0500 (EST) From: shoes Subject: MM: Re: non-patty related... could lamia please email me privately? i have a question... thanks! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Nov 98 09:40:26 -0600 From: cdaignea@bakerbotts.com Subject: Re: MM: Hello!, Nashville, & Cursing--Finished! I put it away and ignored it for the next two years. I gave it another try after hearing her names quite a few times and, VOILA!, she wasn't so bad! Funny how that happens. :> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Nov 1998 13:33:19 EST From: CornflkGl@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Hello!, Nashville, & Cursing--Finished! I went out and bought the CD anyway to remember the concert, listened to it a few times... and the rest is history :) Rachel :D ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Nov 1998 14:52:47 EST From: Rudgetty@aol.com Subject: MM: PATYYYYYYY! I recently saw PG, (opened by Herby and Iodine...they rock), and fell in love with her all over again. I went to the concert not knowing if I would enjoy myself, you see I havent yet bought Falming Red, i love Ghosts though, and I only knew about five songs the entire concert, but still loved every minute. I was screaming as loud (if not louder) than all those who mouthed every single word she sang. Her energy, her stage presence.... that woman is a goddess, and I thank my lucky stars I got the chance to see her live... it was great. Who is this Herbert guy? Did he open for other dates..or just mine in Ky? ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V2 #343 *********************************
