Not only do you have the same love for Patty's music as I do, but you don't stop there. Everyone (except Howard) showed so much passion about sticking up for other artists who are lesser known, but just as deserving to be mentioned among all the great stories about Patty. I read every posting and each one had so much passion in them that I was inspired to tell you just how much I love everyone of you for speaking out and taking a stand against close mindedness when it comes to music...and many other things talked about on this list. I know I spoke up once before about the HS thing, I appoligize... when it comes to sharing great musical finds...I always depend on the list for the recommendations...there is alot of great musical tastes on this list and alot of spunk to boot. I feel really proud to be a MMer right now. Sorry about being alittle sentimental about it, but I couldn't help myself...thanks for the soapbox. I imagine Patty is smiling too, if she has read any of your postings. Just got back from seeing Patty tonight at Headliners in Louisville! What a show! First of all, she played an instore show at Ear X-tacy early in the evening. She and the band played acoustic versions of Tony, Change, Wiggley Fingers, Go Now (which she laughed all the way through!:), and that sultry song some of you have mentioned (something about "tired of being alone--feel like breaking up somebody's home"). After the set, Patty stuck around and signed autographs and talked to the fans a bit. I got to meet her and asked if she ever got to check out the Mad Mission list. Unfortunately she said she is not very "computer friendly" and doesn't read it herself, but that her band updates her all the time about what's going on on the list...good enough. :) Anyway, later in the evening after Iodine (who by the way was quite impressive, albeit loud), Patty played an awesome show and had everyone screaming for more! The stage was decorated with all different sizes of red candles which burned throughout the show--appropriate. Patty came out wearing a black tank top and black stretchy below-the-knee length skirt with a delicate looking orange crocheted cardigan sweater over it. She also wore black chunky sandals with knee-high pantyhose rolled down to her ankles, and her hair in a low ponytail, with a dragonfly barrette. To top it all off, she wore these retro horn-rimmed glasses. Sounds crazy, but it was totally cool! She played almost all the songs from FR, a few from LWG (Lorraine, Moses, Forgiveness), and several others you all have mentioned (Silver Bell, Little God, Paul Westerberg cover, etc.). The best was when, after playing Wiggley Fingers, she dedicated the song to Mary Catherine Gallagher (which just happened to be my Halloween costume last weekend!! So I LOVED it!!:) She played mostly with the band, but did about four songs solo, so we got the best of both worlds. Well, that's about all I can remember right now, but I hope that anyone else who was there will post their comments. I'm interested in hearing what others thought. Hope you all get to see Patty soon! I am really glad that I've gotten to see her play a couple of smaller venues, because she's getting more and more popular and it's soon to get impersonal I'm sure. For those who aren't crazy about the band, at least they're easy to look at! Especially the keyboardist! Woo Hoo! Sweet Dreams, Lisa ;) Musgrove@Gateway.net or Musgrove1291@Hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Nov 98 09:43:50 -0600 From: cdaignea@bakerbotts.com Subject: Re[2]: MM: new alanis A blue custom-made Ferrington. If it weren't for those "few people" that email on a regular basis, there wouldn't be anything for the lurkers to read now, would there? And, FYI, you know nothing of what anyone on this list finds important in life. And lastly, If you must know, this list is a breather for me at work. They may not necessarily be intended to be funny, but they're funny to you, for whatever reason. Here are 2 of mine: "I hated every day of high school" (because I REALLY REALLY did); and "Strap your hands cross my engines" from "Born to Run." Let's laugh. Strangely enough, I don't remember seeing your name on the ballot this past Tuesday. So when were you elected speaker for the "majority of people"? I very rarely post on the Mad Mission list, but I generally enjoy reading the posts, and it's nice to be kept abreast of things. So please, don't presume to speak for me, or anybody else but yourself. If you feel that people get too excited about things said on the list, that's fine. But please don't use the royal "we" to make your point. "I'm the root of all that's evil, yeah, but you can call me Cookie..." from "Fire, Water, Burn" by the Bloodhound Gang... (imho) a really bad group with really no redeeming musical value, but that line kills me. :) "Start an escort service for all the right reasons, and set up shop at the top of Four Seasons..." from "Cowboy" by Kid Rock. Enjoyable, but hard to take seriously. :) "Been around the world and found that only stupid people are breeding, the cretins cloning and breeding..." from "Flagpole Sitta" by Harvey Danger. Another group with really no redeeming musical value, but there are some good lines in that song, especially for those bouts of road rage on the way to work. :) Kevin - ---------- Kevin Pease kbpease@boston.crosswinds.net (ICQ UIN: 3106063) (AOL Instant Messenger: kbpease) http://www.crosswinds.net/boston/~kbpease "Sitting here at the water's edge now that the storm has gone, First time in years it feels like nothing's wrong, There've been a lot of changes, I was so lost for a while, Sitting here I remember how it's easy to smile..." ---(Heather Nova, "Grow Young")--- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Nov 98 13:20:36 -0600 From: cdaignea@bakerbotts.com Subject: Re: MM: Support (NIGC, NPC) Why are you sending this to the Indigo-Girls list? ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: MM: Support (NIGC, NPC) Author: "Antall.
