I was fortunate enough to see Patty in Portland, Maine last Saturday with about 200 other people. Super small venue with candlelit small tables. David Lewis (also from the list) and I drove from Saint John, NB Canada (actually he drove from Halifax, NS - another 5 hours on top of the original 5 hours it took us to get there!) And I must say - the show was wicked amazing!! The band and she put on a fantastic show and I was lucky enough to meet her after the show and say hello to her parents (who were also in the crowd!) Stole a poster, got an autograph, met other fans and got to hear Patty! All in all a great weekend trip! So if any of you haven't got out to see her yet ( I am sure that I was the last one on the list lacking that experience though!) get your butt out and see her cause Patty is well worth whatever it takes you to see her!:) Well, that's it! Smiles:) Patty "My thighs have been involved in many accidents And I can't get insured and I don't need to be lured by you." First off i just have to say Thank you Thank you Thank you for Dana for taking the hike to Providence, I totally enjoyed your company, and all your experience as a OB nurse, you really gave me insight, you're a totally cool person!! I am so so so sorry you couldn;t find your car. Now as for the concert patty would have blown my Tupee off if i wore one!! Her set was enriched with rarities and regulars and covers. Did long road, which almost made me cry and her 2nd encore forgiveness made me come closer. Her new song Little God, was an eeire tune, her voice travels to the lowest part of low and it's just haunting, I liked Dana's interpretation about illegal substances. Patty did 2 encores and thanked the Met Cafe' people for being so kind. Dana and I were as close and could be, we were almost part of the enterage (sp??), like if i put my arm out I would be touching her, not like I'd want to be touching Patty per se', but i think you get what i mean..... and we met up with a man named Mike that knew a whole lot about music. Mike and I stayed after and we got to meet Patty, I got a picture with her (thanks mike, your's will be in the mail soon) and she signed Flaming Red, she was of course very gracious and kind, her hands are so small!! Only Mike and I were in line to see her (which i gues wasn't really a line), everyone had left or were in a small group in the middle of the Cafe' talking with some of the Push Stars. She looked radiant as Dana mentioned already, in a China Doll kind of way, with a long silky asian style dress and awesome brown/balck boots. She looked like she was having a blast up there last Sunday. Can't wait for the next time around. THANKS DANA, we must get some Japanese food again sometime!! The Push Stars were a pretty rockin band, with a mix of slow meaningfull tunes and fast loud ROCK, they had a lot of enthusiastic fans there, boppin around. I was SUPPOSED to pass out candy on Halloween, but uh oh...Patty is playing Clutch Cargo's that night in Detroit, er..um, Pontiac that is. Hey, does anyone have the updated rarities tape, or can I still get it from RarePatty@aol.com? Someone let me know...I am MONTHS and MONTHS behind on my Patty Griffin, and she just keeps chucking out great song after great song. Thanks all! :-) John ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V2 #305 *********************************
