It's near BU. I took the B green line and got off at Pleasant St. (about 6 stops past Copley Sq). It doesn't say The Paradise (not that I saw) I think it says Euro something on it. You won't miss it though, if you look for T's Pub....it's right next door. The Paradise looked like an old movie theater that was closed...but I've heard it's great inside...bigger than Mama Kin's and nicer, which doesn't matter...I like Mama Kin's. Anyway, that's the directions. If you are looking for a place to go before Patty, T's Pub looks like a good place. Is anyone meeting earlier? She played solo, and did a lot of material that may be unfamiliar to most people. My friend said the place was packed. She's playing one more time at Spider House before she goes on tour; Tuesday night, don't know what time ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 16:30:01 -0500 From: HAW3065@ACS.TAMU.EDU Subject: MM: Ruby Maroon Hey, I called the Spider House and they say that Jimmy Johnson, not Patty (Ruby) is playing on Tuesday night. They said it must be a misprint in the chronicle. If anyone knows anything about this, let me know. I offered to tape some Patty shows for someone. This person then sent me two blanks with a note saying something like "These are for the Patty Griffin shows" - WHICH Patty Griffin shows would those be? I'm more than happy to tape copies for you, but please get back to me and let me know which ones. I have no idea - if you don't care, let me know and I'll just choose two shows to tape. The name on the return envelope was Michael Redden, or Reeden (can't remember). If you're coming by T, take the B line of the Green Line (it's the BU / Boston College line). You'll see the marquee (and chances are the tour bus will be parked right out front!) with Patty's name on it. It's tough to see the name Paradise on the marquee. I think you can get off either at Babcock Street or Packard's Corner (there's a huge Star Market there). T's Pub is right by the Paradise - about two doors down - and would be the best place for the crew to meet. I've seen Patty here before. It's big enough to get a good crowd and small enough to be intimate. Should be a great show. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Sorry about posting this to both lists at once!! Has anyone ever seen/heard of Gadget White Band? They've opened for Joan Jett & Patty Griffin. I came across their page after searching for Patty and they only have one sound clip which in my opinion isn't enough to buy the cd! (It sounded good but who knows about the rest of the cd?) anyone ever heard 'em?? I need some opinions! One thing that struck me is when I saw the pic of the band, Gadget looks a lot like Emily Saliers!! maybe it's just the angle? check it out anyway! http://www.erols.com/kevmikwa/gwb.html *HUGS* Lamia "I feel angry I feel helpless I want to change the world I feel violent I feel alone Don't try and change my mind The world is heading for mutiny When all we want is unity We may rise and fall, but in the end We meet our fate together..." - --Mark Tremonti&Scott Stapp (one) http://members.tripod.com/~SqueekyFromme/enter.html ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 21:09:48 -0300 From: David Lewis Subject: MM: Tip for finding gig locations Hi all, This is in regards to the thread about the location of the Paradise. I'm from Halifax, N.S. and I've been to two Patty shows... one in Northampton and one in Boston. Lacking both maps and any knowledge of either city (since I'm rather far away from both places :), I used yahoo to find the gigs! Just go to http://maps.yahoo.com It's awesome!! You just type in an address and yahoo will generate a map for you complete with an "x-marks-the-spot"! There are a number of other cool things you can do too, such as zooming in and out and searching by business name or type! Type in "Mama Kin" and you will get a map to Mama Kin's! You can even type in your point of departure and get detailed driving directions complete with small maps for each change of road/direction, total milage and estimated driving time! This works for any two locations anywhere in the USA and/or Canada!!! You can even get it to plot a route that avoids toll roads if you wish! Anyway, just though I would pass that tip along :) - ------------------------- David Lewis Digital & Print Media Design dlewis@hfx.andara.com - ------------------------- ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V2 #286 *********************************
