Sorry for posting this to the list, and for the NPGC, but I think I deleted digest #205 before I got a chance to read it - it's not likely I didn't get it, as I got #206. Would someone be willing to send it to me? I'd appreciate it. Elaine ------------------------------ Date: 22 Jul 98 11:09:06 -0800 From: Robin Hall Subject: MM: PG at House of Blues Patty played at the House of Blues in Los Angeles last night, opening for Sister Hazel. The show was sold out, and H.O.B. was packed. My friend and I got there at 9;15, and Patty was already into "Tony." I have no idea how long she'd been playing at that point. We managed to wiggle our way near the front of the stage. The crowd was enthusiastic, which surprised me, because i was expecting most people to be there for Sister Hazel. Which, in fact, i think was true, although there were some obvious Patty fans there, singing along to every song. Still, it was a Sister Hazel crowd, which was cool, because, despite that, everyone payed attention to Patty, to the point that I think even she was surprised. Patty was great, as was the band. The rhythm section in particular was outstanding. The sound was good, not great, although that might have been because we were so close to the stage. Patty played most of the songs from Flaming Red. Highlights for me were the vocal vamp at the end of "Christina," and the entire "Flaming Red." Either Patty's monitor or guitar chord crapped out at the beginning of "Flaming Red," so her acoustic guitar became merely a prop during the song. As a result, the vocals and her whole presentation of the song seemed more intense. My friend, who loved LWG but hadn't heard FR, and had never seen Patty live, (and who had just had all her wisdom teeth taken out) was blown away So was I. Tonight, Patty is playing in Santa Barbara, which should be interesting, since it's a small venue and she's headlining. Be there. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Jul 1998 14:38:27 -0400 From: "Silver Kat" Subject: MM: 18 August NYC Hi there, Patty will be at The Bowery Ballroom on the 18th of August says Time Out New York... It actually wasn't at first, I didn't even really notice it there and Every Little Bit and Moses had blown me away. But the first time I played the CD for my two year old daughter (who I know I mention too much, but anyway ...) she latched onto it. She wanted to hear it over and over and wanted it added on to her mixed tapes. The more I listened to it the more it became my favorite too. A year later it is still among her three favorite songs and she has learned the words, well, more of them than I hve anyway. - - harry _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
