Here is the set list; Acoustic: These damn near brought tears to my eyes! 1. Lorraine 2. Poor Man Electric; 3. Goodbye 4. Change 5. Tony 6. Chritina 7. Blue Sky; Very loud! but great song. 8. Daddy 9. Go Now 10. Flaming 11. Wiggly 12. One Big Love 13. Every Little Bit; This song is as great with a band as solo! 14. Mary After reading comments from people about the band thing, my impression was this; Yes the band was loud, but so is every other bar band i've seen. My favorite band member was the bass player, have any of you seen Santana in the Woodstock film? This guy reminded me so much of him, same facial expressions and goatee. Wonderful! I could hear Patty's vocals just fine except when I was right up front. But that was because the speakers were pointing out away from me. As soon as I moved away, I could again hear perfectly, Patty sang very well and very emotionaly. Me and my girlfriend both agree she was increadible. After the show Patty ended up sitting at the table right next to us, luckily my girlfriend had the foresight to bring her copy of LWG with her, I grabbed it and brought it over to Patty to sign, she did. I also met Patty's manager and they were both very gracious and kind. We were both thrilled to be at the show and hope Patty can come back to Mpls/St.Paul area soon!! - -Dan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 May 1998 00:37:22 -0700 From: Heidi Subject: MM: peter pan If anyone will be seeing Patty before the 18th, I would so greatly appreciate it if someone would ask her to please work up Peter Pan and Mary with the band or solo so we can hear her play them without embarrassment when we shout out to her to play those songs at the troubador. And this debate is overwhelming. Let Patty be Patty. A lot of times the WHOLE letter doesn't need to be quoted, just the section you're replying to. You don't have to agree with a person, but please respect that person's right to express a controversial or dissenting opinion. If you disagree with someone you disagree, that's fine - absolutely nothing wrong with stating your reaction to someone else's opinion - everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thanks, erin > ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 May 1998 07:46:24 PDT From: "Sean Palen" Subject: MM: arguments on every list Well, I thought I'd throw my two cents in, and not only because I'm bored at work. I am weary at first of lots of things, but the way I look at it is you can either write your own stuff, not listen to the things you dislike, and just relax. The people who give bad reviews now might be FRs biggest fan in two months after repeated listenings(of course there's always the possibilty they will never listen to the album again - such as the case with David Wilcoxs new album that I can't get into). Listen to the music that makes you feel good, and realize that your dislikes might be someones favorite. Flaming Red just got rave reviews from an Austin radio station 101.5, mentiones in the same sentance as Ani Difranco. I thought i'd throw out a single that you all would like, Edwin MCCains "I'll Be", after two listens you will be hooked( The whole cd is ok but that song is unbelievable). Remember, relax, enjoy yourself, Oh yeah, wouldn't it be great if we could all just up and quit our jobs, drop out of school, find someone to hold and travel the world, new adventures everyday.... oh everyday comes and I'm back at work, daydreams will have to do, in the words of Homer Simpson , "Stupid society". Fresh from the frat-house if you ask me... "Mary" is a beautiful song! The gig was good, "Tony" is a rockin' little tune. Too many people talking through the whole show! Everybody has an opinion, and you know what opinions are like? To be honest with you I think this email list would be boring if everybody felt the as you would like them to feel; "adoring and uncritical". You are as guilty of intolarance as the the "Flaming Red Bashers" if you would desire to see someones name removed from this list because their opinions don't jive with yours. Abbreviations such as PG and LWG is just good netiquette. Who are you to dictate what and how others wish to communicate. As much as you wish others to keep an open mind about "Flaming Red" I would hope that you would keep your mind open to opinions that differ from your own. Personnally I like what little I've heard of "Flaming Red". I never expect people's musical tastes to agree with mine. What we listen to and enjoy is very subjective. It reflects aspects of our personality that go deeper than what we superficially show to the world. My relationship to music and to the artist can withstand the storm of any criticism because it's something that no person or their words can take from me. Patty could decide to retire after Flaming Red and life would go on. I would be satisfied that she shared with us as much as she did. However I suspect that Patty has a long career ahead of her and for that I am gratefull. Martha, please understand that I am not flaming you (no pun intended). I share your adoration for Patty and hope that you can understand that it's really not important that others feel the same way. Take care, Mark Cicero Nashville, TN >>> "Underwood, Martha" 05/12/98 11:07am >>> ATTENTION FLAMING RED BASHERS: What is the matter with you people? Most of you sound like a crazed Dick Button. Although I have managed to restrain myself thus far, now I'm mad. Change is good. If you wanted Flaming Red to be so much like LWG (as you so affectionately refer to it) then go buy it again. It would seem to me that one of the reasons for these cult-like wacko Email/website/groupie things would be to help support a performer that you think is worthy. Apparently that's not the case here, and you should have your names removed from the list so you're not bothered by her anymore. Not every record or performance from any entertainer can be your favorite. But I think it's too bad if you are going to continue to profess your love for Patty only with regard to LWG. And now, as she's sure to become renown, you've just given up on your right to claim credit for turning someone on to her. I only wish I was as lucky as you some of you to see her with the band. You are clearly missing out on what you used to think was an amazing talent. And please, don't refer to her as PG - you don't know her that well. As for inflexible, I'm thinking tongue-depressor. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 May 1998 19:38:09 EDT From: DCar10 Subject: MM: Re: Bunkers show In a message dated 98-05-13 16:12:30 EDT, churchr@post.uwstout.edu writes: << Too many people talking through the whole show!
