While some singers are strictly studio singers, such as [insert name here], others such as Patty just expand upon their already remarkable talent when put on a stage. Hi, On another list I subscribe to, Patty has been mentioned in a post- "raved about" would better describe the enthsiasm this person convyed in her praise of Patty and the up-coming "Flaming Red". The post ended with the (polite) order to check out LWG, because "Patty Griffin is awesome". Well, *we* know that. It makes me so happy to see that the "word" is spreading to others and I wish her all the success in the world, but I'd hate for Patty to get so big that intimate concerts in small venues will become a thing of the past! Selfish or what? I have been introduced to more artists and their music through these lists. The same thing happened to me with Jewel- I saw her play a mall, for pete's sake. But she got popular, and now I have to share her with thousands little girls. Oh well. It'll calm down eventually- people will become vicious, and make fun of her, and her popularity will decline, and soon I'll have her back to almost myself again. In the mean time, I hope she's having fun. I somehow don't see Patty as an artist that has a lot of commercial appeal, anyway. Patty on MTV- what a SCARY thought :). I tend to be somewhat territorial about great artists...and Patty, well, she's the greatest of them all! You should have seen me the first time I heard Patty on a top 40 radio station (it was a LWG song too!). But think of it this way - any recognition she gets, she deserves tenfold, and I'm sure she won't forget us, the ones who supported her work from the beginning!!! I first heard Patty on CKUA (that's an Alberta station) and I fell in love with the song Forgiveness. I went out and bought the CD the next day.I doubt she'll ever come up here but would love to see her. Does anyone know if I can get guitar tabs for LWG? I'm a terrible guitar player but Patty and a few beer seem to inspire me. Thanks, Richard! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Apr 1998 19:24:20 -0700 From: dougebob@juno.com (Doug K) Subject: MM: Patty in LA Sorry for the bandwidth, but I've been trying to reach Heidi Burtt and I keep getting my message sent back.
