I'll try calling later this afternoon and seeing what info I can find, since I'd love to come up for at least one of the shows. It's out tomorrow, but I was lucky enough to win a free copy of the double-disc on Saturday, much to my delight, when I attended the auditions at Levi's store on E. 57th where they had a stage set up, and were scoping out local talent. One of the bands that won an opening slot at the Jones Beach Lilith Fair was called Antigone Rising, and they were really good. But back to how I got the free CD: before they announced the winners, they said they had a copy of the CD for the one person in the audience who could come and say who Lilith was. The emcee guy called on me, probably because I was bubbling over and drooling at the thought of having that CD, and I was very excited. Although shy, I went up on that stage and said who LIlith was, and almost forgot to take my CD. Then I went home and listened. AHHHHHHHH. My faves so far "Water is Wide" (Indigos/Jewel/Sarah), "Cain" (we all know who), Shawn Colvin's "Trouble" and Dayna Manning's "I Want"--the latter not incredibly sophisticated lyrically, but pretty-sounding. I like the diversity on the album...some Spanish, some French, Vietnamese...however, some of the tracks seem like they were not the best of that particular artist, and I wonder why they chose them. The Patti track is awesome, and shows off her slide guitar and her powerful vocal control. This is probably long enough...just stop complaining about the upcoming CD and enjoy this kick-ass version of an acoustic "Cain." Cheers, Amy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 09:50:00 -0700 From: Heidi Subject: Re: MM: Judging Patty (plus tour dates from A&M page) I'm gonna see Patty! I'm gonna see Patty!!! My friend and co-worker, Pamelita Leefat, sent me an email today telling me of a housing opportunity in Bosotn, more specifically in Cambridge...should anyone be interested, PLEASE e-mail Pamelita ASAP at: leefatpa@huse1.harvard.edu Pamelita is an absolute sweetheart, fun to talk to, and pretty cool in general =) Here is the housing information/apartment ad: I'm looking for 2 roommates to live in a very spacious 3 bedroom apartment with dishwasher, washer/dryer in basement, a huge livingroom and kitchen on elm street in Cambridge (5min. from Harvard Square via the 69 bus). If you know of anyone who is interested in a summer rental (and beyond), PLEASE let them know about this apartment IMMEDIATELY. The apartment is for July and on ($355/mo). Take care, and I hope this helps some Boston-bound people! love you all Stephanie ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 23:20:40 -0400 From: DanStarkDS Subject: MM: On the air in Detroit Hey folks, Patty's "One Big Love" is in rotation on Planet 96.3 (WPLT) Detroit. Planet is a Modern CHR (Hits) station, big in the Detroit ratings. As far as I know it's the first time that station has played Patty - until now she has been confined to the more niche-targeted River (AAA) and WDET (NPR). I'd say this seems to bode well for the CD's success. The last time she came to this area was when she opened for Shawn Colvin and not alot of people came for the opening and then she performed here a week later for a crowd of about 25-30 people. I was one of the few and I love Patty's music, so PLEASE come and be a part of the magic that is Patty. Friar Tuck's is a small place, but a great place for an intimate group of Patty fans. I will give directions if you need them... Jeanne Pugh ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V2 #110 *********************************
